Prometeon Tyre Group has secured a price-per-kilometre contract with ForFarmers UK to supply and maintain tyres across the animal feed company’s 160-strong HGV fleet. Covering bulk and bag delivery vehicles that collectively travel around 16 million kilometres a year, the agreement combines on-site support with digital performance tracking to improve efficiency, compliance and casing life across nationwide operations.
ForFarmers operates eight compound mill manufacturing sites from Exeter and Portbury to Newcastle-under-Lyme and Penrith. The company reports a seamless handover, with joint site visits by Prometeon and service providers ahead of go-live to align processes and set expectations. “The appointment of Prometeon has gone extremely smoothly,” said Naeve Brown, Business Improvement and Indirect Procurement Director at ForFarmers UK. “We’ve had very positive feedback on service levels from across the business, which was a key priority for us.”
With vehicles frequently switching from long-distance motorway routes to rough farm tracks, correct specification has been central. “It’s vital we have the right tyres on the right vehicles for the right jobs,” Brown added. “Prometeon’s expertise has already helped us make improvements… That support is delivering real efficiency gains.” The move aligns with Prometeon’s recent UK product refresh around its Serie 02 truck range, which emphasises mileage, wet grip and retreadability for regional and long-haul work. ForFarmers is using Prometeon’s tyre management portal for real-time reporting on inspections, tread and pressure status, and job follow-up. “The portal has been a real step forward for us,” Brown explained. “We now have clear inspection reports and action lists that make compliance much easier to manage.” Digital record-keeping supports DVSA expectations set out in the Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness, including routine inspections and tyre age monitoring across HGV fleets.
The fixed PPK model aligns commercial incentives to maximise tyre life through repairs, regrooving and retreading where appropriate, rather than defaulting to replacement. ForFarmers says this supports both cost control and environmental goals. Tyre News has also explored how puncture-prevention measures can reduce call-outs and extend casing life, benefits that often flow through PPK agreements for mixed-duty fleets. Prometeon highlighted the scale and complexity of the fleet and the importance of a well-planned transition. “We’re delighted to welcome ForFarmers on board,” said Wayne Bell, National Fleet Account Manager at Prometeon Tyre Group. “We look forward to working closely with ForFarmers to keep the fleet running safely, efficiently and sustainably.”
The company’s broader UK activity (spanning Serie 02 deployments and connected-fleet readiness) has been a recent focus for Tyre News readers following summer show appearances and portfolio updates.
