Bridgestone Adds XXL Sizes to VT-TRACTOR Range

Bridgestone is expanding its VT-TRACTOR agricultural tyre range with six extra-large sizes for high-horsepower tractors. The new XXL fitments cover 38- to 46-inch rim diameters, including new 44- and 46-inch options, as manufacturers and contractors continue to specify larger machines for field and road work.

A response to larger tractor platforms

The expanded VT-TRACTOR range is aimed at farmers and contractors running heavier, more powerful tractors. Bridgestone says the new tyres have been developed to support traction, durability and longer working life in demanding field conditions.

Andrea Marconcini, Director Agriculture at Bridgestone EMEA, said farmers now operate larger tractors and need tyres that can keep pace. He said the updated range is designed to support faster field work and longer service life, with the aim of reducing long-term operating costs.

For tyre dealers and agricultural service providers, the launch reflects a continuing shift in the farm tyre market. Larger machines are increasing demand for high-load tyres that can balance soil protection, road travel and seasonal productivity.

Design focus on traction and wear

Bridgestone says the new XXL tyres use virtual 3D simulation and revised design criteria. The tyres feature a deeper tread depth and wider tread width, intended to balance traction with wear life.

The company also highlights its patented involute lug design, which it says provides up to 12% more lug volume than competitor products. Bridgestone says the design is intended to maximise traction while reducing energy loss during operation.

The new sizes also use Bridgestone’s S-LINE bead profile. This is designed to allow greater flexibility at lower pressures, while maintaining bead security under heavy and changing loads. In practice, that supports the wider market focus on soil protection and pressure management.

Tyre News has recently reported similar pressure-management themes across the agricultural sector. Recent coverage of Michelin AxioBib 2 tyres on a Fendt 728 highlighted the role of central tyre inflation systems in fuel economy, soil care and productivity.  Tyre News also reported that CTIS has moved from a premium option to a more mainstream specification on high-horsepower tractors and self-propelled machinery ahead of Agritechnica 2025.

CTIS compatibility and lead percentage

The XXL VT-TRACTOR tyres are compatible with Central Tyre Inflation Systems, allowing operators to adjust inflation pressure between road and field applications. That matters for contractors moving between transport work and field operations during tight seasonal windows.

Bridgestone also says the expanded range offers an optimised rolling circumference. This is designed to support correct lead percentage between front and rear axle combinations. Correct matching helps reduce tyre wear, driveline stress and fuel use, while maintaining steering stability.

The focus on pressure, traction and soil footprint is consistent with wider agricultural tyre development. Tyre News recently covered Alliance fuel-saving results at a UK agricultural demonstration day, where inflation pressure and tyre selection were linked to measurable fuel consumption differences.

Production in Spain

The VT-TRACTOR XXL sizes will be produced at Bridgestone’s Puente San Miguel plant in Spain. Bridgestone says recent upgrades at the site include advanced production technology and specialist equipment for larger-diameter agricultural tyres.

The Puente San Miguel site has wider relevance for Bridgestone’s European manufacturing footprint. Tyre News previously reported that Bridgestone Hispania Manufacturing planned a collective dismissal process affecting Puente San Miguel and Basauri, both of which specialise in truck, bus and agricultural radial tyres.  Against that backdrop, the addition of 44- and 46-inch agricultural tyre production gives the site a clearer role in the premium agricultural segment.

Bridgestone says the new VT-TRACTOR XXL sizes will be introduced progressively from April 2026. The roll-out will expand coverage for high-horsepower tractors and broaden compatibility with modern agricultural machinery.
