Bond International is replacing its Chepstow depot with a 174,000 sq ft Avonmouth warehouse holding around 350,000 tyres.

Bond International has acquired a 174,000 sq ft warehouse in Avonmouth, adding capacity for approximately 350,000 tyres as the UK wholesaler continues to invest in its distribution infrastructure. The new facility will replace Bond’s existing Chepstow operation and serve customers across the South West and South Wales.

The Avonmouth acquisition follows several years of warehouse investment by Bond International, with the company having added facilities in St Helens, Bathgate and Biggleswade during the past five years.

Bond says its existing facilities have come under increasing pressure as the business has grown. According to chief executive Charlie Bond, this reflects both a rising number of SKUs and the increasing physical size of tyres, requiring more warehouse space to maintain the breadth of stock needed for its distribution model.

The new Avonmouth facility is expected to hold around 350,000 tyres, giving Bond greater capacity to support its same-day delivery proposition and carry the extensive ranges required by manufacturer customers. Bond also says it has recently secured more distribution contracts, particularly with premium tyre manufacturers.

That investment is not confined to Avonmouth. Earlier this year, Bond acquired a new 180,250 sq ft facility at Symmetry Park Biggleswade, replacing the 112,000 sq ft unit it had occupied at the same development since 2022.  The company subsequently said the larger Biggleswade warehouse would increase capacity from around 220,000 to 350,000 tyres.

The additional physical capacity also sits alongside Bond’s growing third-party logistics activity. In June, Bond and Kumho Tire agreed a further 10-year extension to a 3PL relationship that began in 2019. Bond said at the time that third-party distribution had grown strongly over the previous seven years and had become an important part of the business alongside traditional tyre wholesaling.

There is customer-side evidence of the commercial role such arrangements can play. Halfords reported more than £4.4 million of savings in FY25 after outsourcing its wholesale tyre operations to Bond, while also reporting improved same- and next-day availability across its garage network.

Taken together, the recent investments show Bond adding warehouse capacity alongside the expansion of its distribution role for manufacturers and other tyre-sector customers. Avonmouth is the latest step in that programme, replacing Chepstow with a substantially larger facility positioned to serve the South West and South Wales.
