Point S UK has appointed Sarah Gumbley as National Network Development Manager, giving her a nationwide remit to recruit independent automotive businesses and support expansion among existing members. The role has a particular focus on multi-site operators as the network pursues its previously stated ambition to become the UK's largest independent automotive service provider by 2035.

Gumbley will work alongside Point S UK's regional Business Development Managers and sales teams across five UK regions, identifying prospective members and supporting businesses already within the network that want to expand their sites, services or operations.

A notable part of the remit is the explicit focus on multi-site independent businesses. Rather than recruiting locations solely on an individual-site basis, Point S is seeking established operators capable of bringing several sites into the network, while continuing to look for growth opportunities among its existing membership.

Gumbley joins Point S after more than 13 years with HiQ, where her experience covered supply chain, operations and retail business consultancy. Point S said her new role will involve identifying and engaging independent workshops with growth ambitions and helping them turn those opportunities into viable operations.

“My focus is going to be on finding quality independent businesses that want to grow with us, while also supporting the businesses that are already part of the network,” Gumbley said.

The appointment sits within an expansion programme Point S UK has already set out rather than marking a new strategic direction. In March 2025, the business announced an ambition to become the UK's largest independent automotive service network by 2035, accompanied by plans to expand its UK presence. Point S has also stressed that recruitment will not be pursued simply to increase location numbers. New opportunities will be assessed according to their location, local market requirements and the capabilities of both prospective and existing members, while the network says existing member territories will be protected.

Ali Yilmaz, Managing Director of Point S UK, said: “We're not interested in growth for growth's sake. We want to bring the right independent businesses into the network, in the right locations, and give them the support and opportunities they need to grow.”

For tyre-sector businesses, the emphasis on multi-site independents adds a more specific recruitment priority to Point S UK's established expansion programme. It potentially allows the network to add several locations through relationships with established operators, while Gumbley's parallel responsibility for existing members means some growth can also come from businesses already within Point S.

The appointment therefore gives Point S additional dedicated resource for delivering its existing network ambitions, without changing the underlying approach of recruiting independent operators selectively and supporting member-led expansion.

Point S has not stated in the appointment announcement how many UK member locations it currently has or how it is measuring progress towards its 2035 objective.Suggested Meta Description
