Road Transport Media will launch RTX Ireland at Goffs in County Kildare on 12–13 May 2027, extending the Road Transport Expo format into the Republic of Ireland following this year’s Northern Ireland event. The two-day exhibition will target Irish road haulage operators, bringing truck, trailer, tyre, component and fleet-service suppliers together in a dedicated trade event.
The first RTX Ireland will take place at Goffs, Kill, County Kildare, on 12 and 13 May 2027, adding another event to the expanding Road Transport Expo portfolio.
Organised by Road Transport Media, the exhibition follows the launch of RTX Northern Ireland at the Eikon Exhibition Centre in Lisburn in April 2026. Tyre News Media previously covered the Northern Ireland launch, as well as Hankook’s commercial tyre presence at the inaugural event.
The Republic of Ireland event will retain RTX’s “All about the truck” format and is being developed specifically for road transport operators. The planned exhibitor mix includes truck manufacturers, bodybuilders and trailer suppliers alongside tyre and component manufacturers, fleet technology providers and businesses covering finance, training and compliance.
A Knowledge Zone will provide conference content focused on issues affecting Irish haulage businesses, while an RTX Ride & Drive area is intended to give operators the opportunity to drive commercial vehicles at the event.
For the tyre sector, the launch creates another direct route to commercial fleet customers in Ireland. Tyre manufacturers, distributors and fleet-service businesses will be able to meet operators within a broader exhibition covering vehicle procurement, equipment and fleet management rather than at a tyre-specific trade show.
That distinction is important commercially. Tyre purchasing decisions for truck fleets increasingly sit within wider conversations about vehicle uptime, cost per kilometre, maintenance and whole-life operating costs. The presence of tyre and component suppliers alongside vehicle manufacturers and fleet technology providers therefore puts the sector in front of the same operational audience making those decisions.
The arrival of RTX Ireland also comes against a sizeable road-freight backdrop. The latest full-year figures from Ireland’s Central Statistics Office show road freight vehicles travelled 2.112 billion kilometres during 2025, an increase of 11% from 1.896 billion kilometres in 2024.
Freight activity measured in tonne-kilometres increased by 10%, from 13.575 billion to 14.950 billion, while the actual weight of goods transported rose by a more modest 2% to 169.1 million tonnes.
For tyre and fleet-service suppliers, the mileage figure is particularly relevant. More than two billion vehicle kilometres represents substantial ongoing exposure to tyre wear and maintenance requirements across the Irish freight fleet, supporting demand across replacement tyres, casing management, retreading, tyre-pressure management and preventative maintenance.
The figures also show how conventional the powertrain mix remains. According to the CSO, 99% of the road freight vehicles covered by its 2025 survey used diesel, while 1% used HVO or a diesel-HVO combination. The statistics illustrate the current scale and utilisation of Ireland’s road freight sector independently of the decision by RTX organisers to launch the new exhibition.
Vic Bunby, Show Director of RTX Ireland, said the organisers were looking forward to bringing the format to the Republic and had received interest from commercial vehicle industry stakeholders.
“We are very much looking forward to bringing the popular RTX format to the Republic of Ireland next May and having spoken to a number of stakeholders, we are delighted with the interest expressed by the commercial vehicle industry we’ve received to date,” Bunby said.
Road Transport Media is working with Fleet Transport and Export & Freight on the new event, giving the organisers established publishing relationships within the Irish transport and logistics market.
The expansion follows the first RTX Northern Ireland, where tyre manufacturers were already among the exhibitors targeting fleet operators. Hankook, for example, used the Lisburn event to present its truck and bus portfolio alongside Irish distributor TyreCall and Tractamotors.
RTX Ireland will take place at Goffs, Kill, County Kildare, on 12–13 May 2027.
