Hankook showcases heat resistance and grip in Indonesia

Hankook Tire & Technology underlined its role in electric motorsport with a standout performance at the 2025 Jakarta E-Prix, Round 12 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. The race marked Formula E's return to Jakarta after a season-long break, challenging teams with the city's hot, humid climate and technical track layout.

Dan Ticktum secured victory at the Jakarta International E-Prix Circuit, as Oliver Rowland retained his position at the top of the drivers' standings. Meanwhile, TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team extended its lead in the team rankings.

Jakarta circuit tests tyre resilience

The 2.37km circuit, influenced by traditional Javanese design, combined high-speed curves with tight technical sections and limited overtaking zones. Track surface temperatures exceeded 40°C, placing heavy demands on tyre grip and stability.

Hankook's GEN3 Evo iON Race tyres, the official tyre of Formula E, handled the conditions with consistent performance. Each team used two allocated sets for the event. According to drivers, the tyres maintained grip and control throughout the race, despite the extreme heat.

DS Penske driver Maximilian Günther said: "The GEN3 Evo iON Race tyre handled the heat and surface complexity incredibly well. It gave me the confidence to attack and defend, even in the tightest corners."

Next stop: Berlin

With the Asia leg complete, Formula E now heads to Berlin for the penultimate race weekend on 12-13 July. The event also marks the final round to feature Hankook as title sponsor this season.
