China Revises CCC Certification Rules for Motor Vehicle Tyres.

The China Quality Certification Center (CQC) has updated the implementation rules for Compulsory Product Certification (CCC) of motor vehicle tyres. The revisions, linked to new GB 9743-2024 and GB 9744-2024 standards effective from 1 May 2025, were issued on 12 June 2025 and affect tyre product categories 1201 and 1202.

Changes to CCC Tyre Certification Rules

The updated document, CQC-C1201-2024, revises two key annexes:

  • Annex 6 – now specifies new parameters for testing tyres under the most unfavourable conditions.
  • Annex 7 – clarifies clauses and testing methods used for type evaluations.

These changes follow the technical adjustments in GB 9743-2024 and GB 9744-2024, which define performance and safety criteria for motor vehicle tyres in China. CCC certification remains a prerequisite for importing or selling tyres in the Chinese market.

CCC certification requirements have previously impacted international tyre manufacturers, particularly when aligning with new GB standard requirements. Similar rule updates have been implemented in past years to ensure compliance with evolving safety protocols.

Impact on Existing Certificates

According to the CQC, the revised rules will not affect existing CCC certificates. Companies holding valid certifications do not need to re-apply.

"Certified enterprises must adopt the new procedures immediately following the notice's release," the CQC confirmed. "However, all current certificates remain valid under the updated framework."

This means tyre makers, importers, and distributors will need to ensure new product submissions meet the revised requirements from 12 June 2025, but ongoing operations will remain unaffected for certified models.

Compliance and Next Steps

Tyre companies planning to enter or maintain market access in China should:

  • Review the changes to Annex 6 and Annex 7 in the CQC-C1201-2024 document.
  • Update testing procedures to align with the revised “most unfavourable condition” parameters.
  • Train certification teams on the clarified type evaluation methods.
