Formula E Launches ‘Electric Lap’ on Roblox to Reach New Fans.

Formula E has partnered with gaming studio Feenix to launch Formula E: Electric Lap on Roblox, marking a significant push by the championship to connect with younger audiences through interactive digital experiences.

The collaboration brings the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship's unique brand of electric street racing to the popular gaming platform, where it aims to introduce Gen Z and Gen Alpha fans to the sport through customisable, energy-focused gameplay that mirrors the real-world championship's strategic elements.

Strategic Racing Meets Social Gaming

Electric Lap translates Formula E's distinctive racing characteristics—including ATTACK MODE, energy management and regeneration, and tactical pit strategy—into an immersive multiplayer environment. Players can race across circuits inspired by real Formula E venues, global cities and fantasy tracks, whilst managing energy resources and making strategic decisions that echo the challenges faced by actual Formula E drivers.

The experience features four generations of Formula E machinery, from the inaugural GEN1 car through to the current GEN4, alongside official racing teams including Porsche, Jaguar and Nissan. Circuits span locations from Miami and Tokyo to London, with both realistic and stylised interpretations available.

Customisation plays a central role, with players able to unlock liveries, avatar items and user-generated content (UGC) that can be used across the broader Roblox platform. The street-style multiplayer racing format keeps energy management at its core, reflecting Formula E's positioning as a championship where efficiency and strategy are as crucial as outright speed.

Evolution and Engagement

The platform is designed to evolve throughout the 2025/26 season and beyond, with new tracks, content updates and live events planned to coincide with real Formula E race weekends. Regular feature updates are scheduled to roll out across 2026, alongside seasonal content drops and creator collaborations.

Jeff Dodds, CEO of Formula E, said: "Formula E has always pushed boundaries and challenged what's possible in motorsport, and launching Electric Lap on Roblox takes that mission even further. We're opening the door to millions of young players to discover the thrill of electric racing through gameplay that's fun and truly creative. I'm genuinely excited about this collaboration and can't wait to see it evolve throughout this coming season."

Michelle Perez Barrous, general manager at Feenix Studio, explained the strategic fit: "Formula E is one of the most innovative sports brands in the world and bringing that energy into Roblox is a perfect match. Gen Z and Gen Alpha build fandom through play—through worlds they can shape, communities they belong to and experiences they return to."

She added: "Our goal with Electric Lap was to translate the strategic, sustainable DNA of Formula E into something players can actually feel: energy management, tactical decisions, city circuits and the culture of the paddock. Roblox is where this generation already lives, and we're excited to help Formula E meet them there in a way that's safe, moderated and genuinely immersive."

Reaching New Audiences

Sanjay Shivaram, brand licensing and retail director at Formula E, emphasised the initiative's role in expanding the championship's reach: "Formula E has always stood for innovation, both on the racetrack and beyond. By launching in Roblox, we're creating a new entry point for young fans to discover the excitement of electric racing in a fresh, interactive way. Together we've built an experience that introduces the heart of our sport to millions of players in the spaces where they already play and create."

The move represents Formula E's continued efforts to position itself at the intersection of motorsport, technology and sustainability, whilst engaging audiences in digital spaces where traditional broadcast media may struggle to reach younger demographics.

Feenix, which specialises in creating branded experiences on Roblox, will continue to support community engagement within the platform, with updates and creator collaborations planned throughout 2026.
