Subaru’s 2026 Solterra adopts Yokohama GEOLANDAR X-CV as OE in North America.

Yokohama Rubber has announced that its GEOLANDAR X-CV tyres will be fitted as original equipment on Subaru's 2026 Solterra electric SUV in North America. The battery electric vehicle, which launched in September 2025, will be equipped with 235/50R20 100V tyres.

The Japanese tyre manufacturer is supplying different tyres for different markets – whilst the GEOLANDAR X-CV features on North American models, the Solterra sold in Japan (launched in October 2025) continues to use the ADVAN V61, which was also fitted to the previous model.

EV-optimised highway terrain tyre

The GEOLANDAR X-CV represents Yokohama's new generation of highway terrain tyres that meet the M+S (mud and snow) standard. The tyre focuses on high-speed performance and drivability whilst balancing safety, comfort, durability and fuel efficiency.

Tyres supplied for the Solterra bear Yokohama's proprietary "E+" mark on the sidewall, indicating they incorporate technology specifically designed for electrified vehicles. This includes enhanced features such as improved durability, reduced noise levels and greater energy efficiency – all critical considerations for battery electric vehicles.

AI-assisted development

The tyres were developed using HAICoLab, Yokohama's AI-based development framework. The system, whose name stands for "Humans and AI ColLaborate for digital innovation", combines human creativity and insight with AI's data processing capabilities to drive innovation in tyre design.

Strategic focus on premium fitments

The Solterra fitment aligns with Yokohama Rubber's current three-year medium-term management plan, Yokohama Transformation 2026 (YX2026), which runs from 2024 to 2026. Under this strategy, the company's consumer tyre business aims to maximise sales of high-value-added tyres.

A key element of this approach involves promoting both the flagship ADVAN brand and the GEOLANDAR brand for SUVs and pickup trucks as original equipment on new vehicles globally.

Yokohama’s OE momentum on SUVs has broadened in 2025–26, including new GEOLANDAR supply on Toyota’s latest 4Runner, a programme that also highlighted HAICoLab’s role in product development.

The fitment also aligns with Yokohama Transformation 2026 (YX2026), which prioritises high-value tyres across ADVAN and GEOLANDAR.
