Bridgestone used its fourth consecutive appearance at the British Motor Show to promote tyre safety, working with Kwik Fit to inspect 248 cars in Farnborough. Nearly a quarter required attention, including 3.6% with urgent issues. The checks formed part of the brand’s wider “Be a Bridgestone Road Safety Hero” campaign.
The British Motor Show, held from 15 to 17 August in Farnborough, gave Bridgestone a platform to raise awareness about tyre condition. Tyre technicians found that more than one in five vehicles inspected had safety concerns. The figure reflects TyreSafe estimates of millions of illegal tyres on UK roads.
Bridgestone distributed hundreds of safety packs with tips on how to check tread depth and pressure. The activity was part of the company’s nationwide road safety campaign.
Drew Chapman, Consumer Sales Director at Bridgestone North, said: “The British Motor Show continues to provide a unique platform to connect with tens of thousands of people, but most importantly it allows us to make a tangible impact on road safety.”
The Bridgestone and Kwik Fit stand attracted heavy footfall. Around 4,000 visitors queued for the “Tyre Derby” game, while a 3D hologram demonstrated braking differences between premium and budget tyres.
The company also showcased its Potenza Sport tyres on a Ferrari and promoted its Tyre Mileage Guarantee. Outside the halls, the Racing Bug simulator drew hundreds of participants alongside live stunt shows.
This was Bridgestone’s fourth year at the show, reinforcing its investment in safety messaging and product awareness. The partnership also supported the Sporting Bears charity, underlining the community aspect of its involvement.
The initiative connects to Bridgestone’s global “E8 Commitment,” which focuses on themes such as safety, sustainability, and emotional engagement in mobility.
Bridgestone will continue its “Be a Road Safety Hero” campaign nationwide, with more free checks and safety education planned for drivers throughout the year.
