Dunlop Tyre Europe has unveiled the Blue Response TG, a new summer touring tyre engineered to deliver reliable, balanced performance for everyday drivers of both internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric vehicles across European markets.

Positioned in the premium touring segment, the Blue Response TG has been developed with the European road environment firmly in mind. It combines wet weather safety, quiet running and low rolling resistance to serve a broad audience, from family car drivers and daily commuters to fleet operators seeking a single fitment solution for mixed powertrain fleets.

Wet Performance and Handling at the Core

Wet weather safety is central to the Blue Response TG's design brief. Optimised groove geometry and carefully profiled tread blocks are intended to enhance water evacuation and grip under rain, supporting shorter braking distances and composed handling in slippery conditions. This focus on wet competence reflects the priorities of European consumers, for whom unpredictable weather is a year-round reality rather than a seasonal concern.

Alongside this, the compound and tread pattern work together to deliver precise steering response while maintaining a compliant, comfortable ride on longer motorway journeys. The result is a tyre intended to feel reassuring and predictable in everyday use, without requiring drivers to compromise between safety and comfort.

Noise Reduction and EV Compatibility

A notable aspect of the Blue Response TG is its attention to cabin noise. Noise reduction technology built into the tread structure lowers road noise and vibration transmitted to the cabin, a benefit that Dunlop highlights as especially relevant for electric vehicle drivers. In a battery-electric or hybrid car, the absence of engine noise means road and tyre noise becomes considerably more perceptible. Tyres that actively manage this characteristic can make a meaningful difference to the quality of the driving experience.

The tyre's low rolling resistance construction addresses the specific efficiency demands of EVs, where tyre choice directly affects driving range. For drivers of ICE vehicles, the same characteristic translates to improved fuel economy. In both cases, efficiency is delivered without compromising the tyre's day-to-day usability.

A Wide Fitment Range for the Modern European Car Park

Blue Response TG is designed to suit a broad spectrum of European passenger cars, spanning hatchbacks, compact cars and family saloons, including hybrids and full EVs. It will be introduced across a range of popular sizes to cover key segments of the European car parc, supporting Dunlop Tyre Europe's ambition to strengthen its position in the touring tyre category across both conventional and electrified vehicles.

This breadth of application reflects the growing complexity of the European car parc, where fleet and retail buyers increasingly need a single touring tyre capable of serving multiple vehicle types without compromise.

A Strategic First for Sumitomo's Dunlop in Europe

The Blue Response TG carries additional significance beyond its product credentials. It is the first European-focused Dunlop passenger car summer tyre to be introduced since Sumitomo Rubber Industries (SRI) assumed car tyre brand rights in the region in early 2025.

SRI completed its acquisition of the Dunlop trademark for four-wheel vehicles in Europe, North America and Oceania from Goodyear in May 2025, in a transaction valued at approximately $735 million. That deal marked one of the most significant brand transactions in the global tyre industry in recent years and signalled SRI's intent to reposition Dunlop as a unified global premium brand.

The Blue Response TG therefore serves as a statement product for the brand's renewed European direction under SRI's stewardship. It demonstrates the new ownership's focus on aligning advanced tyre technology with the increasingly diverse powertrain landscape on European roads, and signals the beginning of a new product cycle for Dunlop in the passenger car segment.

As SRI continues to develop Dunlop's dual-brand strategy alongside Falken, the Blue Response TG's launch suggests that premium touring, wet weather safety and EV compatibility will form a central pillar of the brand's European identity going forward.
