Bush Tyres has been named UK brand partner for Nokian Tyres in the off-highway sector, securing distribution rights for the Finnish manufacturer's agro-forestry range at a moment when precision agriculture is driving demand for tyres that can actively respond to variable load conditions.
The centrepiece of the agreement is Nokian's Soil King VF range, which carries the Intuitu 2.0 load-sensing TPMS system. Sensors embedded in the tyre's inner liner measure the actual operating weight of the tractor — including implements and ballasting, and transmit real-time pressure and temperature data via Bluetooth to a smartphone. Unlike conventional TPMS, which monitors pressure passively, Intuitu 2.0 generates pressure recommendations calibrated to the machine's live load, removing the need for operators to consult pressure tables or calculate operating weights manually. Nokian attributes to the system a 5.2% improvement in traction and a 180-litre reduction in fuel consumption over a 12-month period; these figures represent manufacturer claims and have not been independently verified.
Bush Tyres enters the partnership as the UK's largest stockist of Michelin Agricultural tyres and an existing distributor of Ascenso, the Indian agricultural tyre brand. Adding Nokian, which Bush Tyres describes as a leading premium brand in the agro-forestry segment, extends the company's positioning as a specialist wholesale and retail operation with depth across the agricultural tyre market rather than a single-brand offering.
Nokian's broader off-highway portfolio spans port and terminal tyres, earthmover, mining, construction, and industrial applications alongside its forestry and agricultural lines. The brand's roots in Scandinavian operating conditions, where forestry terrain is demanding and seasonal pressure variation is significant — underpin its technical reputation in the agro-forestry category, where tyre selection directly affects both soil compaction and machine efficiency.
The agro-forestry sector has seen sustained mechanisation investment in recent years, partly driven by sustainability pressures on forestry operators to reduce ground disturbance and fuel consumption. Load-sensing TPMS sits squarely within that dynamic: the ability to maintain optimal pressure as implement configurations change across a working day is not a marginal gain in this context, but a direct input into soil health, tyre wear, and operating cost.
