JK Tyre & Industries Ltd. has launched its ‘Steel Wheels’ retail initiative in Haryana, marking the start of a strategic expansion across India’s rural and semi-urban landscape. The move aims to improve access to tyre sales and services in underserved markets, while also promoting local business ownership and job creation.
The first JK Tyre ‘Steel Wheels’ centre has opened in Farrukhnagar, Haryana. Over the next three months, the company plans to establish similar outlets in Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana. A nationwide rollout will follow later this year.
These locations focus on towns with populations under 100,000—communities that are economically active but often lack formal automotive retail infrastructure.
Each ‘Steel Wheels’ centre is designed to function as a complete service point for tyre needs, offering:
▪ JK Tyre’s full product portfolio across segments
▪ Tyre fitting and wheel balancing services
▪ Competitive pricing with strong warranty coverage
▪ Instant claim facilities for non-truck tyres—a new offering for these markets
The centres aim to provide a professionalised experience in areas where tyre services are often fragmented or informal.
Rather than operating directly, JK Tyre is partnering with local entrepreneurs to manage the centres. This model integrates independent operators into the brand’s national network of nearly 900 exclusive shops and over 6,000 channel partners.
The company says this approach not only enhances last-mile access but also drives grassroots employment and business development.
The ‘Steel Wheels’ initiative forms part of JK Tyre’s broader effort to tap into the rising demand in India’s smaller towns and rural regions. With over 800 Stock Keeping Units (SKUs) across its portfolio, the brand is positioning itself to meet diverse vehicle and segment needs in these growth markets.
Commenting on the launch, Managing Director Anshuman Singhania highlighted the dual goals of accessibility and empowerment:
“These centres will offer our full range of tyres and will act as vital touchpoints for our brand, delivering consistency, convenience, and confidence to a fast-rising consumer base across India’s heartland.”
