Fleet tyre management specialist Direct Tyre Management (DTM) has announced it has become a Certified B-Corporation, joining a global movement of businesses committed to balancing profit with purpose.
B-Corporations, or B Corps, are businesses certified to meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability and transparency. The 'B' stands for benefit for all – encompassing employees, partners, customers and the wider community, not solely shareholders and investors.
For DTM, the certification represents formal recognition of values the company says have long underpinned its operations. The firm's PACE principles – People and culture, Approved network, Customer focus and Environmental responsibility – guide its decision-making and service delivery.
"Becoming B Corp certified is more than a badge – it's a statement of intent," said Leigh Goodland, chief executive officer at DTM. "B Corp does exactly what it promises; it's the Ronseal effect in action. It validates the values we live by at DTM."
Goodland emphasised that environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations have always been central to the business. "There's no better endorsement of that commitment than achieving B Corp certification. I'm incredibly proud of the team for their hard work and determination in making this happen."
The company worked with consultancy Seismic to navigate the certification process. Goodland expressed gratitude for their expertise and support throughout the journey.
DTM's environmental focus centres on reducing tyre wear and waste through knowledge, data and insight. The company highlights that used tyres frequently end up in landfills, stockpiled or illegally dumped, creating environmental and social problems.
Tyre particulate matter and brake dust rank among the largest contributors to microplastic pollution affecting water quality and food sources. DTM works with fleet customers to address these issues whilst also supporting the transition to electric vehicles.
"Our mission is clear: to leave the tyre industry in a better condition than we found it," Goodland stated. "As a B Corp, we are tackling these challenges head on, staying rooted in our values every step of the way."
However, Goodland stressed that certification marks a beginning rather than an endpoint. "This isn't the finish line, it's the starting point. B Corp is just the beginning of a much bigger journey toward creating lasting, positive impact for our customers, our people, partners and the planet."
The B-Corporation certification adds DTM to a growing number of tyre industry businesses pursuing formal recognition of their sustainability credentials.
