
IAA Transportation returns to Hannover from 15–20 September, with Press Day on 14 September. It is not a tyre exhibition, but for commercial tyre businesses that is precisely why it matters: decisions around tyres are increasingly connected with trailer efficiency, vehicle weight, electrification, maintenance data and fleet uptime. Here are the stands and technologies worth putting on the itinerary.
IAA Transportation 2026 brings truck and bus manufacturers together with trailer builders, component suppliers, software businesses and logistics operators at the Hannover Exhibition Center. Its conference programme comprises more than 100 events and over 200 speakers across three stages, with electrification, charging infrastructure, autonomous driving, software-defined vehicles, artificial intelligence and economic resilience among the principal themes.
The practical element is also expanding. IAA says 16 exhibitors will make more than 80 vehicles available through its Test Drive programme, with 53 vehicles from 13 exhibitors departing from a new terminal in Halls 14/15 and further brand-specific departure points elsewhere on the site. The significance for tyre businesses is less the number of demonstrators than what they represent: vehicle efficiency is increasingly being judged as a complete operating system rather than a collection of components.
The supplied 124-page exhibitor directory reinforces the scale of that ecosystem and provides the baseline for the tyre-industry audit behind this guide. Attendance alone, however, is not enough to justify a place here. The relevant question is whether a tyre manufacturer, distributor, commercial tyre dealer, workshop or fleet tyre manager has a specific business reason to visit.
Hankook, Hall 11, Stand E09
Hankook is one of the clearest tyre destinations. The manufacturer has confirmed that new commercial vehicle tyres for trailer and winter applications will make their trade-show debut alongside its existing truck, trailer and bus portfolio. Hankook says the products have been developed around fleet requirements for cost efficiency and safety, although detailed specifications for the new tyres had not been released when this guide was prepared.
The trailer emphasis deserves attention. Trailer tyres operate away from the visual focus placed on the tractor unit, yet pressure, rolling resistance, mileage and irregular wear can all influence whole-vehicle operating costs. A new generation of trailer products therefore needs to be judged not simply on label performance but on mileage, casing value, retreadability and the evidence Hankook can provide from fleet operation.
Hankook's broader European strategy adds another dimension. Prometeon, Hall 11, Stand E07
Prometeon is another important addition to the tyre itinerary. Its IAA programme centres on SuperFleet, its integrated European fleet proposition, together with the expanding Serie 02 commercial tyre range. SuperFleet combines Serie 02 tyres with the SuperTruck service network and Pro Services, moving the discussion beyond individual tyre specifications towards how tyres are purchased, monitored and maintained through their working life.
That approach is commercially significant because it provides a practical test of the industry's total-cost-of-ownership argument. Tyre News Media has already covered Prometeon's Serie 02 products, RFID-equipped casings and fleet-service strategy, as well as a UK price-per-kilometre contract combining tyre supply, maintenance and digital performance tracking. The question at IAA is how much further the manufacturer can demonstrate that product, service network and data operate as one proposition rather than three adjacent offers. WESTLAKE, Hall 12, Stand B66
WESTLAKE will use Hannover to present four additions to its Gen II commercial range, the WSL2, WDL2+, WTL2 and WTR PRO, in collaboration with Interpneu and Pneuhage Fleet Solution. The company is positioning the products around lower rolling resistance, mileage, fuel efficiency and longer-term fleet performance.
The more interesting point is the language of competition. For European fleets, acquisition price is only one part of a commercial tyre's value, particularly where operators can measure fuel consumption, removal mileage and service interruptions across large vehicle populations. WESTLAKE's emphasis on application-specific Gen II products and operating costs suggests it wants the conversation to move further towards measurable lifetime performance. Whether fleets accept that proposition will depend on evidence rather than positioning.

Kumho appears in the supplied IAA Transportation 2026 exhibitor directory. However, detailed primary-source information about its 2026 Hannover programme could not be established at the time this guide was prepared, so it would be premature to attribute a new product launch or specific fleet proposition to the company.
That makes Kumho a stand to monitor as the show approaches rather than one around which to build expectations prematurely. The company has been increasing its visibility in European commercial tyres, including recent UK fleet-facing activity, but previous show programmes are not evidence of what it will present in Hannover.

Some of the most relevant tyre technology at IAA will not be on tyre manufacturers' stands. BPW provides perhaps the strongest example. Its IAA programme includes the iC Plus intelligent running-gear platform, which uses vehicle data to support condition-based maintenance rather than relying solely on fixed service intervals. BPW says the system can analyse brake wear and performance, tyre pressure, axle load and even road condition to identify maintenance requirements earlier.
Its idem telematics business goes further by combining truck and trailer information, including tyre and brake data, on one platform. BPW also offers AirSave, which monitors and automatically regulates trailer tyre pressure, while idem TPMS can transmit tyre-pressure information through the trailer's telematics infrastructure. These systems have additional regulatory relevance because tyre-pressure monitoring requirements under UN ECE R141 now apply to trailers.
This is one of IAA's clearest implications for commercial tyre dealers and service providers. A pressure problem that once depended on a driver inspection or workshop check can increasingly become a remotely visible maintenance event. The opportunity is better intervention before failure; the challenge is ensuring tyre businesses remain connected to the data and service workflow rather than becoming the final contractor called after another platform has already made the decision.
Schmitz Cargobull offers a similar indication of where trailer management is heading. At Pavilion 33, the manufacturer will combine vehicle technology, digital connectivity and services around fleet availability and operating costs. Its TrailerConnect proposition already brings trailer condition information into a central fleet environment.
Commercial wheels are another area worth attention, albeit for different reasons. Speedline Truck's forged aluminium range and UltraShield surface technology put weight, durability and maintenance into the operating-cost discussion. UltraShield is offered across 17.5- to 22.5-inch applications for trucks, trailers, buses and specialist vehicles, with Speedline claiming reduced cleaning and maintenance requirements through its low-adhesion protective surface.
Alcoa Wheels is also confirmed in the supplied directory. For fleets, the useful comparison between wheel suppliers is not simply aluminium versus steel. Wheel mass can affect payload and vehicle efficiency, while corrosion resistance, cleaning requirements and durability influence maintenance costs. Any efficiency claim should therefore be examined against the complete duty cycle and quantified rather than treated as an automatic benefit.
Three questions should run through the tyre industry's visit to Hannover.
First is whether trailer tyres are becoming a more important technology battleground. Hankook's new products provide one piece of evidence, while BPW's pressure control and condition-monitoring systems demonstrate how the trailer is acquiring a much richer data layer. That does not mean the trailer tyre has suddenly become a standalone technology category, but it does make pressure, rolling resistance, load and tyre condition easier to connect with the economics of the complete vehicle.
Second is whether manufacturers can substantiate the industry's increasingly familiar TCO language. Mileage, rolling resistance, retreadability, fuel consumption and downtime are useful measures only when the comparison basis is clear. Fleets equipped with better telematics and tyre-management data should increasingly be capable of testing those propositions in operation rather than accepting laboratory figures or headline percentages at face value.
Third is what connected maintenance means for the tyre workshop. The strongest evidence at IAA may not be a "smart tyre" in isolation. It may instead be platforms such as BPW and idem's, where tyre pressure becomes one input among axle load, brakes, maintenance records and vehicle condition. That suggests tyre data can increasingly feed the same decision-making system used to manage the rest of the asset, although IAA will also need to show how widely these capabilities are actually deployed rather than demonstrated.
Electrification adds another layer. Higher vehicle mass, torque delivery, load requirements and the importance of energy consumption can all affect tyre specification, but simplistic claims that electric trucks inherently consume tyres faster should be treated cautiously. The more useful question in Hannover is how manufacturers are balancing rolling resistance, load capacity, durability and mileage for different electric commercial-vehicle duty cycles.
For tyre businesses, this is ultimately why IAA Transportation matters.
The tyre remains a physical product, but the commercial decision around it is becoming harder to separate from the wheel, axle, trailer, vehicle data and maintenance operation around it. Hannover should provide useful evidence of how far that integration has progressed and, equally importantly, where the industry's connected-fleet ambitions still run ahead of everyday deployment.
