Designed for the waste and recycling sector now offers more load capacity and durability in urban environments
Bandvulc has announced the addition of a new 315/70 high load size to its Wastemaster 5 retread tyre, aimed at waste collection vehicles operating in challenging urban and recycling site conditions.
The Wastemaster 5, first introduced in 2021, is engineered specifically for vehicles working in environments where tyre damage from kerbing, sharp debris, and rough terrain is a daily risk. With the new size, Bandvulc is responding to demand from operators running heavier vehicles, particularly in city-based waste management fleets.
Retreaded at the ContiLifeCycle facility in Ivybridge, Devon, the Wastemaster 5 is built with key durability features tailored to the needs of specialist waste and recycling vehicles. This includes:
▪ ARMORBAND™ sidewall reinforcement to combat kerb and sidewall damage
▪ Zig-zag tread grooves for effective water and mud clearance
▪ Stone ejection features to prevent tread damage
▪ Deep pocket sipes and stepped blocks to maintain grip in adverse weather
These features are critical in environments where tyres rarely get the chance to operate under ideal conditions and are often removed prematurely due to avoidable damage.
Bandvulc points to operational success with European fleet operators such as Stadtreinigung Hamburg, where Wastemaster 5 tyres have proved reliable against the backdrop of narrow roads, heavy loads, and poor weather.
Tony Mailling, Head of Hot Retread Production EMEA at Continental, commented:
“The introduction of the 315/70 size with a high load rating further strengthens the Wastemaster 5’s position as the go-to tyre solution for operators in the urban waste collection sector.”
