Wheely-Safe has launched a new company—Wheely-Safe Sensors Ltd—focused on integrating its patented wheel and tyre sensor technology into third-party telematics platforms. The move marks a strategic shift to scale adoption of its award-winning safety systems, which already protect over 30,000 vehicles globally.

This expansion allows bus, coach, truck, and trailer operators to benefit from Wheely-Safe’s advanced monitoring without duplicating onboard hardware, addressing a key industry friction point.

A New Integration Model for Tyre and Wheel Safety

Until now, Wheely-Safe primarily offered its products as standalone systems or fleet-focused packages. The company’s new entity will focus solely on B2B sensor supply and integration, allowing telematics providers to embed Wheely-Safe’s wheel loss and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) sensors into their own solutions.

Gary Broadfield, Managing Director of Wheely-Safe Sensors, said the shift allows fleets to avoid installing multiple systems:
“Now, those fleets can ask their telematics provider to add our unique wheel loss sensors into their solution – with or without our TPMS sensors.”

The wheel loss sensors, which mount over wheel nuts, detect early signs of loosening. They also monitor hub and brake temperatures, providing early warnings of overheating and helping prevent brake fires. An additional benefit is real-time theft alerts if a wheel is tampered with outside authorised maintenance settings.

Targeting Fleets Through Third-Party Telematics

Wheely-Safe’s TPMS valves screw directly onto tyre valve stems and can be configured to integrate with telematics dashboards. The technology is designed to address a major cause of breakdowns: pressure-related tyre failures, which are responsible for roughly a third of roadside incidents, according to industry data.

By enabling integration, Wheely-Safe aims to expand reach beyond its own system installations, supporting broader safety adoption across mixed fleets and telematics users.

Corporate Reorganisation to Support Growth

In line with the expansion, the original Wheely-Safe operation has been rebranded as Wheely-Safe Systems Ltd, which will continue to serve fleet customers with complete systems—both standalone and cloud-connected.

Gary Thomas, now Business Development Director of Wheely-Safe Sensors, sees the move as a strategic step to broaden access:
“We’ve spent years developing and refining the product; this is an exciting opportunity to continue the journey, but on a much bigger scale.”

The formation of Wheely-Safe Sensors Ltd underscores a growing industry trend: sensor interoperability and system integration across the commercial vehicle space. As fleets seek to streamline vehicle hardware and data flows, the ability to unify tyre and wheel safety features with existing telematics platforms could prove pivotal—especially for safety compliance, predictive maintenance, and asset protection. This modular, scalable approach is also well aligned with sustainability goals by reducing hardware redundancy.
