Tyre News Media has begun research for the UK Tyre Industry Outlook 2027, a new annual report examining the market, commercial, regulatory and technology forces likely to influence the UK tyre sector. Combining industry evidence, original survey research, public data and independent analysis, the project will assess the issues businesses should be considering as they plan for 2027.
The report is intended to build a view of the year ahead from across the tyre supply chain rather than rely on a single market forecast or measure of industry performance. Manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers, fleet tyre businesses and other industry participants are being approached for evidence and perspectives, alongside analysis of relevant market and regulatory data.
A selected group of organisations will be invited to contribute directly, while Tyre News Media is opening participation more widely to businesses and industry professionals able to provide useful evidence or specialist insight. Participation is editorial and is not dependent on being an advertiser, sponsor or other commercial partner of Tyre News Media.
Research is expected to examine replacement tyre demand, premium and value-market dynamics, wholesale and distribution, tyre retail, fleet and commercial tyres, retreading, end-of-life tyre recovery, regulation, electric vehicles, tyre technology and specialist markets.
Rather than issuing contributors with an identical questionnaire, Tyre News Media will ask targeted questions reflecting their position in the market and areas of expertise. This should allow the research to capture differences between parts of the supply chain that may experience the same underlying market pressures in substantially different ways.
One question, however, will be put to contributors across the industry:

The answers should provide a useful test of where expectations converge and where they diverge. Expectations expressed by contributors will be attributed as industry views rather than presented as established outcomes, while conclusions drawn by Tyre News Media will be clearly identified as analysis.
The project is also expected to include a wider industry survey designed to provide a broader measure of business sentiment. Areas under consideration include expectations for demand, margins and pricing, the position of value brands, electrification and the impact of regulation.
The aim is not to attach false precision to a market affected by economic conditions, vehicle trends, regulation and changing competitive dynamics. Tyre manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, retailers, dealer networks, fleet tyre businesses, retreaders, recyclers, technology providers, specialist tyre companies, trade organisations and other relevant industry participants are invited to express an interest in contributing.
