Hankook Tyre UK has officially opened “Hankook House”, its purpose-built headquarters and distribution hub in Daventry, Northamptonshire. The 17 July 2025 ceremony, attended by HRH The Princess Royal in her role as Patron of Transaid, signals the tyre maker’s long-term commitment to the UK market and its drive to combine efficiency with sustainability.
HRH The Princess Royal unveiled a commemorative plaque alongside Chang Yool Han, Managing Director of Hankook Tyre UK, and civic leaders. Her visit included a guided tour of the 357,221 sq ft facility, where she met team members and viewed Hankook’s latest logistics technology.
Situated near the A45, M1 and M45, Hankook House sits at the heart of the nation’s logistics network, enabling faster national distribution and improved customer service. The 22-acre plot also secures continuity for existing staff by remaining close to the company’s former base.
Designed to minimise environmental impact, the building has achieved a BREEAM “Excellent” score and an EPC rating of A. Energy-efficient systems and eco-focused materials are expected to cut operational emissions while supporting future growth.
Hankook’s collaboration with international development charity Transaid began in 2006 and has so far raised more than £136,000. Initiatives range from fundraising cycle rides to sponsoring locally built bicycle ambulances that improve healthcare access in sub-Saharan Africa.
“The opening of Hankook House enhances our logistics capabilities and reinforces our dedication to quality, sustainability and customer service,” said Chang Yool Han, Managing Director, Hankook Tyre UK.
Caroline Barber, CEO of Transaid, added: “Her Royal Highness’s presence highlights the strength of our partnership with Hankook, which is vital to improving road safety and healthcare transport in Africa.”
