Hankook has introduced the Smart Work AM11+, a steer-axle truck tyre engineered for the stop-start, kerb-heavy duty cycles typical of UK waste-collection and urban delivery operations.
Sidewall scuffing is a leading cause of premature tyre removal on refuse collection vehicles (RCVs) and urban rigids, driving up downtime and replacement costs. Hankook’s latest design addresses this by combining a reinforced sidewall with in-mould abrasion protection ribs and three quick-check wear markers, helping technicians spot damage before it becomes critical.

The tread geometry builds on Hankook’s existing Smart Work family, using interlocking blocks and wide shoulder channels to maintain grip on mixed urban routes while shedding debris picked up on landfill sites.
The AM11+ debuts in 315/80 R22.5 and will reach UK dealers in September 2025, with further sizes under evaluation depending on fleet demand.
Local authorities and private waste contractors are renewing truck fleets ahead of tighter emissions rules and rising uptime expectations. Tyres that cut damage-related call-outs can offer a measurable cost-per-kilometre advantage and support sustainability targets by extending casing life.
