While much of the UK tyre industry grapples with low confidence and reduced demand, B.A. Bush & Son Ltd has expanded its retail and commercial footprint, signalling a contrasting trajectory to broader market trends.
In the past six months, B.A. Bush has launched four new depots. Two retail locations have opened in Ely and Attleborough, Norfolk, while new commercial service centres have been added in Lincoln and Scarborough. These openings aim to enhance both local service coverage and national commercial capacity.
To support the growth, the company has secured nearly 80,000 square feet of warehouse space, increasing inventory capacity and ensuring availability for trade customers. The larger warehousing operation also helps B.A. Bush optimise stock purchasing to protect margins across the wholesale chain.
One of the standout areas of growth has been in agricultural tyres. Year-on-year increases are largely attributed to rising demand for the Ascenso Tyre brand, supplied in the UK through BAB Distribution. Since its UK launch in 2020, Ascenso has gained notable market share among farming customers looking for cost-effective, high-quality options.
B.A. Bush is also the UK's largest stockist of Michelin agricultural tyres, offering nationwide delivery within 24 hours. This level of service and stockholding is designed to meet the operational demands of agricultural customers, particularly during peak seasons.
The new commercial depots in Lincoln and Scarborough are intended to strengthen B.A. Bush's offering to fleet and haulage customers. Across the East of England, over 200 mobile tyre fitting and delivery vans provide both scheduled and emergency services to the group’s commercial client base, covering routes from Wakefield to Ipswich.
Despite broader economic pressures, B.A. Bush attributes its performance to strong supplier relationships, selective brand partnerships, and continued investment in its workforce. Remaining family-owned since 1947, the company maintains a quality-first approach and prioritises staff engagement as a key part of its operating strategy.
