New Bridgegate Tyres has joined the Universal Tyres UK distribution network as exclusive distributor for a designated area of North East England. The agreement with Tubeline, Universal Tyres’ exclusive UK partner, extends the brand’s regional route to market through an established independent tyre business with a growing retail, fleet and commercial presence.

Tubeline has appointed New Bridgegate Tyres as an exclusive regional distributor for Universal Tyres, strengthening the manufacturer’s route to market in the North East as its UK distribution network continues to develop.

Under the arrangement, New Bridgegate Tyres will distribute the Universal range within a designated territory, with Tubeline supporting the business with product supplied from its UK warehouse.

For Universal, the appointment provides a regional distribution partner with an existing customer base spanning passenger car, van, fleet, truck and agricultural applications. New Bridgegate Tyres operates from locations in Barnard Castle, Birtley, Middlesbrough, Newcastle and Newton Aycliffe, alongside mobile tyre fitting and breakdown operations.

The agreement follows a period of expansion for the Durham-headquartered independent. Earlier this year, Tyre News Media reported on New Bridgegate Tyres' £500,000 investment programme, which included additional service centre capacity, investment in centralised infrastructure and an expansion of its mobile fitting operation.

That footprint gives the Universal agreement greater significance than a conventional supply deal. An exclusive territory model relies on the distributor being able to hold stock, generate local demand and service customers consistently. NB Tyres' combination of fixed centres, mobile operations and commercial tyre activity provides Tubeline with an established platform from which to develop the brand across the region.

Building regional availability

Tubeline became part of Universal Tyres' expanding UK distribution strategy earlier in 2026. Universal has been developing distributor relationships as part of a wider push into new and existing international markets, while also investing in additional manufacturing moulds to increase capacity.

For tyre manufacturers seeking greater penetration in the UK replacement market, regional availability remains a critical part of the proposition. Product range and pricing can open conversations with dealers and fleets, but stock availability, delivery capability and local technical knowledge often determine whether a newer or expanding brand gains repeat business.

The New Bridgegate Tyres appointment addresses that challenge by putting Universal stock closer to customers in a region where NB Tyres already has an operational presence.

Tommy Donovan, managing director at Tubeline, said the company would work closely with New Bridgegate Tyres and support the distributor with stock from its UK warehouse to keep the Universal range moving across the region.

The partnership also adds another dimension to NB Tyres' recent growth. Its investment has largely strengthened its service and operational capabilities, while regional distribution creates an opportunity to build greater wholesale activity alongside its established retail, fleet and commercial tyre business.

The commercial test will now be how quickly the partnership translates territorial exclusivity into sustainable volume. Stock depth, range coverage and dealer uptake will be important measures as Tubeline and New Bridgegate Tyres establish Universal's position in the North East.
