Durham’s NB Tyres Centralises Operations to Improve Response Times Across the North East.

New Bridgegate Tyres (NB Tyres), headquartered in Durham, has strengthened its North East operating footprint after completing a £500,000 investment programme over the past 12 months. The independent provider has expanded its service centre network, centralised key parts of its infrastructure and grown its mobile fitting capability, all with the aim of improving responsiveness for fleet, commercial and retail tyre customers across the region.

What the investment covers

NB Tyres says the programme targeted three operational areas: additional fixed-site capacity, stronger back-end infrastructure and an expanded mobile fleet to handle both call-outs and scheduled work.

In practice, this type of investment typically translates into shorter booking lead times, improved parts availability and better scheduling for multi-site fleet accounts, areas where well-resourced independents can compete directly with national chains on speed and accountability.

Fleet and commercial demand driving growth

The company reports 20 per cent year-on-year revenue growth in 2025, which it attributes to rising demand from fleet and commercial customers alongside continued retail expansion.

James Bowman, Director at NB Tyres, said the business has been focused on "building the right foundations for sustainable growth", with investment directed at infrastructure, people and systems to enable the company to scale without compromising service quality or response times.

Thirteen new roles created

The expansion has created 13 new jobs across service, management and operational functions. Alongside these, NB Tyres has introduced two dedicated service and standards management roles, designed to tighten consistency, improve training and strengthen communication between service centres and head office.

Guy Wilks, Director at NB Tyres, said the added scale and wider coverage will allow the business to support a broader mix of customers, adding that the company now operates at a level comparable with larger national providers as it moves through 2026.

Context: a growing North East presence

This latest programme builds on NB Tyres' recent network growth, including the opening of its Middlesbrough Autocare centre on Tees Advanced Manufacturing Park, positioned as a hub serving both private motorists and commercial fleets in the Teesside area.

The emphasis on mobile capability also reflects a broader industry trend, with national operators investing in van fleets and tooling to improve on-site productivity and reduce vehicle downtime for customers. Halfords, for example, has recently expanded its Power360 mobile tyre fitting operation with 60 additional vans, a sign that demand for mobile servicing continues to grow across both the retail and fleet sectors.
