Bridgestone Corporation has been named a 2024 Supplier of the Year by General Motors (GM), marking the tyre manufacturer’s 10th consecutive and 23rd overall recognition in the automaker’s annual global awards programme.
The announcement was made during GM’s 33rd Supplier of the Year awards ceremony, held in Phoenix, Arizona. Bridgestone was among just 92 suppliers selected from over 20,000 across GM’s global network, spanning 12 countries.
GM’s Supplier of the Year awards spotlight companies demonstrating consistent performance in areas such as:
Awardees are evaluated by a cross-functional team within GM, with performance metrics tied not only to operational delivery but also alignment with the carmaker’s values and long-term objectives.
According to GM’s global chief procurement officer, Jeff Morrison, the awards serve to highlight suppliers that support GM’s strategy to bring advanced technologies and a broad portfolio of vehicles to market efficiently and reliably.
Bridgestone’s ongoing collaboration with GM spans multiple vehicle platforms and regions. Its work in developing tyre solutions tailored to GM’s requirements reflects a focus on durability, driving performance, and increasing vehicle efficiency. The partnership aligns with Bridgestone’s wider strategic framework, known as the “E8 Commitment”, which promotes environmental and social responsibility in manufacturing and design.
David Colletti, President of Consumer Original Equipment Tires, North America at Bridgestone Americas, emphasised the importance of mutual values in the continued partnership. He noted that Bridgestone’s recognition is not only a milestone, but a reflection of the company’s daily efforts to support GM’s evolving needs.
This recognition highlights how long-term OEM-tyre supplier partnerships are increasingly measured not just by delivery performance, but by shared commitments to innovation, sustainability, and future mobility. For Bridgestone, alignment with GM’s electrification and technology roadmap underscores the growing importance of adaptive, high-performance tyre solutions in OEM relationships—particularly as the industry shifts further into electric and connected vehicle platforms.
