SUAS reTIRE JV Targets 22,000-Tonne ELT Capacity in Czechia.

German technology specialist Pyrum Innovations AG has partnered with Czech environmental firm SUAS Ecology s.r.o. to establish a major tyre pyrolysis recycling facility in Czechia, marking a significant expansion of sustainable tyre recycling infrastructure in Central Europe.

The joint venture, named SUAS reTIRE s.r.o., will see SUAS hold a 51% stake whilst Pyrum takes a 49% share through an investment of approximately €8.6 million. The partnership represents a total project investment of around €57 million (CZK 1.4 billion).

The state-of-the-art facility will be constructed in Vřesová, near the German-Czech border, with construction scheduled to commence in the second quarter of 2025. The plant is expected to begin operations in 2027, with an annual recycling capacity exceeding 22,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres.

Circular Economy Integration

A key feature of the project is its integration with existing infrastructure at the site. SUAS already operates a power plant at the Vřesová location, which will utilise the pyrolysis gas generated during the recycling process to produce electricity. This arrangement significantly enhances the facility's energy efficiency and strengthens its circular economy credentials.

The pyrolysis process will convert end-of-life tyres into valuable resources, including pyrolysis oil, for which a ten-year purchase agreement has been secured. This provides long-term commercial stability for the operation whilst contributing to the recovery of materials that would otherwise be destined for landfill or less sustainable disposal methods.

Strategic Significance

Commenting on the partnership, Pascal Klein, CEO of Pyrum Innovations, emphasised the project's importance for advancing the circular economy and scaling sustainable technologies to an industrial level. The venture combines Pyrum's patented pyrolysis technology with SUAS's regional expertise and existing infrastructure.

David Najvar, Chairman of SUAS GROUP, highlighted the partnership's role in supporting sustainability and circular economy objectives in the Czech region, demonstrating how innovative recycling solutions can be integrated into existing industrial sites.

The joint venture represents a significant step forward in European tyre recycling, creating a scalable and efficient pyrolysis solution that contributes to waste reduction and resource recovery across the continent. With the plant's strategic location near the German-Czech border, it is well-positioned to serve markets in both countries and the wider Central European region.

As the tyre industry continues to face pressure to improve end-of-life tyre management, projects such as SUAS reTIRE demonstrate the growing commercial viability of advanced recycling technologies and the potential for cross-border collaboration in building a more sustainable tyre lifecycle.

The Czech project builds on Pyrum’s broader rollout. Last month, Tyre News reported the company’s second plant in Perl-Besch, Saarland, cleared to begin construction, with planned 22,400-tonne capacity and commissioning from early 2027. In October, Tyre News also covered Pyrum’s technical outreach on recovered carbon black at a major industry forum, underscoring demand for circular feedstocks.
