Pirelli has equipped the McLaren Artura with its advanced Cyber Tyre system, marking a key step in the application of smart sensor technology to ultra-high-performance vehicles. This development offers real-time tyre data directly from within the tyre itself, opening new possibilities for driver assistance and dynamic performance optimisation.
The Cyber Tyre system integrates sensors directly inside the tyre structure – unlike traditional valve-based sensors – offering more accurate real-time data on pressure, temperature, and tyre specifications. The information is processed by bespoke software integrated into the car’s electronic control unit, influencing driver alerts and safety systems based on precise tyre conditions.
This capability is particularly critical in high-performance scenarios, where dynamic tyre behaviour plays a key role in vehicle handling and safety.

For McLaren Artura drivers, the Cyber Tyre system offers real-time insights similar to those provided by a professional race engineer. Alerts inform drivers when tyre temperatures reach the optimal window for grip and performance, and when to cool them down — enhancing both safety and lap consistency. Tyre pressures can also be fine-tuned based on individual driving styles for better performance on the track.

Pirelli has developed three specific tyre types for the McLaren Artura:
Each of these tyres is marked with an “MC-C” code, signifying a McLaren-specific compound and construction built around Cyber Tyre capabilities.
Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre highlights the growing integration of digital systems into tyre design, offering real-time insights previously confined to motorsport telemetry. This move supports broader industry trends toward smart tyres that enhance vehicle safety, support EVs, and offer greater control in data-rich driving environments. As connected technologies scale beyond supercars, expect similar systems to appear in premium and EV passenger vehicles in the coming years.
