A HiQ Tyres & Autocare franchise partner in the North East has once again supported the annual 'Newcastle GOES Flipping MAD' charity challenge, raising funds for global relief organisation Human Appeal.
New Bridgegate Tyres, which operates four HiQ centres in the region, including its latest site on Scotswood Road, Newcastle, provided the 100kg tractor tyres used in the challenge and fielded staff to participate in the event.
The charity event, held on Saturday 21 June along Newcastle’s Quayside, saw teams continuously flip two large tractor tyres for 12 hours. This year’s challenge raised more than £600 for Human Appeal, which delivers health, education and livelihood programmes in crisis-affected regions around the world.
The Newcastle GOES Flipping MAD challenge has now run for five consecutive years, with New Bridgegate Tyres supplying equipment and support since its launch in 2021. The company’s engagement reflects its commitment to local community causes through its franchise partnership with HiQ.

James Bowman, Director of New Bridgegate Tyres, said the event represents how the independent tyre trade can positively impact global causes. “It was especially fantastic to see team members from our newest HiQ franchise taking part on the day,” he said.
HiQ Tyres & Autocare, which operates a national network of more than 190 centres backed by Goodyear, supports a range of community and charitable initiatives, including national efforts in partnership with Breast Cancer Now.
While this initiative is charity-focused, it highlights the growing role of local tyre businesses in community leadership. Franchise partners like New Bridgegate Tyres demonstrate how regional service centres can contribute beyond vehicle maintenance, supporting social causes while reinforcing brand presence. As the tyre trade evolves with smart technologies and EV service demands, local engagement remains a valuable part of the sector’s identity.
