Hankook Tire has launched the iON HT, a new highway-terrain tyre engineered to meet the unique performance demands of electric light-duty trucks and full-size SUVs. The tyre was unveiled at the 2025 Electrify Expo in Los Angeles and is set for market release in August.
The iON HT extends Hankook's iON family, which includes all-season, summer, and winter EV-specific tyres. With an XL load rating, the new tyre supports heavier battery platforms and additional cargo associated with electric utility vehicles.
The tyre features multiple proprietary technologies aimed at improving energy efficiency and durability:
■ Roll Lite Compound and Opti Cure Technology reduce internal friction and optimise curing temperatures, supporting lower rolling resistance and battery efficiency.
■ ProDurable Compound and Opti Tread Technology help extend tread life up to 80,000 miles by evenly distributing road pressure.
■ 3D-Embossed Sipe and flared shoulder grooves enhance wet grip and water evacuation.
■ Aggressive shoulder blocks and iON Clad construction offer impact protection without compromising ride comfort.
Initial sizes will range from 18 to 22 inches, with UTQG ratings of 900/A/A and speed ratings of T or H.

The iON HT was showcased at the Electrify Expo on 21–22 June, where attendees could explore Hankook's expanding EV-focused portfolio. The launch reflects growing demand for EV tyres in the utility vehicle category, particularly among fleet operators and consumers transitioning to electrified trucks.
The launch of the iON HT underlines the growing importance of application-specific EV tyres. As electric trucks and SUVs gain traction, tyre manufacturers are under pressure to deliver products that balance durability, energy efficiency, and all-season capability. Hankook's latest addition demonstrates the industry's shift towards segment-specific tyre engineering tailored to the evolving EV market.
