Fenner Conveyors and Tyrecycle have formed a strategic partnership focused on circular solutions for mining rubber. The tie-up arrives as Tyrecycle’s Port Hedland OTR facility marks roughly six months of operation, giving fresh context on throughput, capacity, and conveyor belt recovery.
Fenner Conveyors and Tyrecycle announced a strategic collaboration to scale local recycling and remanufacturing of mining rubber, with a focus on end-of-life conveyor belts and OTR materials. Both firms highlight Australian processing close to the Pilbara supply chain.
Tyrecycle’s Port Hedland plant is designed to process over 30,000 tonnes of OTR mining tyres per year. It was opened earlier in 2025 in the Pilbara to shorten mine-to-processing logistics. Recent coverage and company statements continue to cite the 30,000-tonne nameplate capacity.
Tyre Stewardship Australia says new facilities risk under-utilisation while pit burial remains permitted. TSA’s advocacy notes very low national recovery rates for mining tyres, which suppress steady feedstock even where capacity exists. This explains why early-stage throughput can sit well below the 30,000-tonne design until supply contracts ramp.
“We have some of the world’s best tyre recycling facilities, but without legislative change they will remain underutilised,” TSA CEO Lina Goodman said, urging governments to end in-pit burial.
Tyrecycle has confirmed it is recycling mining conveyor belts at Port Hedland and East Rockingham, which aligns with the new Fenner partnership’s focus on a closed-loop belt lifecycle. Expect belt volumes to be a near-term growth lever while OTR feedstock contracts scale.
