International Tyres has appointed Daniel Koumi as business development manager, strengthening its UK sales team as the distributor builds customer and supplier relationships across the trade. The company said Koumi brings broad sales experience and will be introduced to customers and partners over the coming weeks.

Building field-level support

The appointment adds further business development capacity at International Tyres, which supplies the UK market across passenger, commercial and trade channels. For wholesalers and tyre retailers, experienced field support remains important as buying patterns, product choice and customer service expectations continue to shift.

Koumi joins the company with a sales background and a track record in business development. International Tyres said his early focus will include meeting customers and suppliers while building product knowledge and sector contacts.

The move follows wider activity around the business, including International Tyres’ visit to ZC Rubber’s Future Factory and TBR plant in China.  Tyre News has also reported on the company’s involvement in ZC Rubber’s wider UK brand activity through WESTLAKE and GOODRIDE distributor events.

Skills and credibility matter

Rich Allen, commercial director at International Tyres, said the tyre industry faces a “real challenge” in attracting people who can fill gaps left by experienced professionals. He said new recruits need to be “relatable, curious and agile” in response to market trends and customer needs.

Allen described Koumi as “a fabulous addition” to both the company and the wider trade. He added that Koumi will attend IMI training with Roadside Safety Ltd in the coming weeks and will also be present at Road Transport Expo 2026 at the end of June.

RTX 2026 is scheduled to take place from 30 June to 2 July at NAEC Stoneleigh, Warwickshire, with fleet, haulage and commercial vehicle suppliers expected to attend.  The event gives new trade-facing staff a useful setting to develop customer relationships and gain exposure to fleet tyre priorities.

A people move with wider relevance

Koumi said the International Tyres team had made his introduction “the best one” he could have asked for. He said he was proud to join the business and support its next phase of growth.

For the wider tyre trade, the appointment reflects a familiar theme: companies need commercial staff who can combine relationship building with technical understanding. Recent Tyre News coverage has also highlighted recruitment and training investment elsewhere in the aftermarket, including Halfords’ Dunstable training academy and Kwik Fit Northern Ireland’s apprenticeship relaunch.
