Bridgestone Completes Flagship Ecopia Range with Trailer Axle Tyre to Reduce Fuel and Carbon Emissions

Brussels, January 16, 2025 – Bridgestone EMEA has completed its flagship Ecopia long-haul tyre range with the introduction of the Ecopia Trailer. Equipped with ENLITEN technology, the full range now offers a comprehensive solution for fleets aiming to cut fuel consumption, reduce carbon emissions, and lower total cost of ownership across all axles: Steer, Drive, and Trailer.

Decarbonising Long-Haul Fleets

The Ecopia range has undergone rigorous testing to ensure it outperforms its predecessor in reducing CO₂ emissions over the tyre's lifecycle. Key highlights include:

  • Certified Environmental Benefits: The Steer and Drive tyres have earned ISO 14067 certification for reduced CO₂ emissions.
  • Improved Fuel Efficiency: The new Ecopia Steer, Drive, and Trailer tyres lower in-use emissions per kilometre by 3.2%, 6%, and 5.6%, respectively.1
  • Sustainability Across Production: The cradle-to-gate emissions (those produced during manufacturing) are reduced by 38.4% for Steer tyres, 10.8% for Drive, and 20.4% for Trailer.

What ENLITEN Technology Brings

The ENLITEN technology incorporated into the Ecopia range underpins its enhanced performance. Benefits include:

  • Lower Rolling Resistance: Up to a 12% improvement on Drive axles compared to the previous generation, achieving an EU A-grade fuel efficiency rating.
  • Extended Tyre Lifespan: Steer tyres see up to 40% more mileage, while Trailer and Drive tyres offer gains of 10% and 6%, respectively.
  • EV and Future-Ready Performance: The tyres align with EU Taxonomy requirements for rolling resistance and external noise, making them suitable for electrified fleets.

Waqqas Ahmad, Commercial Sales Director at Bridgestone EMEA, said: “Bridgestone Ecopia represents the future of long-haul transport. Efficient and innovative, our flagship tyre range helps reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions without compromising performance. The launch of Ecopia Trailer ensures our partners can now maximise these benefits across all axles.”

Real-World Results from Fleets

Transportation companies already using the Ecopia range have reported significant benefits. Jaroslav Klčo, Co-Owner of A.R.P.I. spol. s r. o., shared his experience:
“With the new Bridgestone Ecopia tyres, we significantly reduced fuel consumption. They also ensure even wear and help to achieve higher mileage. Drivers appreciate tyres that offer good grip in dry and wet conditions on highways, even in winter.”

Available in Europe from February 2025

The Ecopia Trailer tyre completes Bridgestone’s sustainability-driven line-up, which includes the Steer and Drive tyres launched in 2023. Available from February 2025, the range reaffirms Bridgestone’s commitment to helping fleets reduce environmental impact while optimising operational costs.
