Autogem's annual 'Under Pressure' competition has set new standards in tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS) training and technician engagement across the UK aftermarket. The fourth edition, held at Pirelli Performance Centre in Burton-on-Trent, saw over 1,000 retail sites participate, confirming its place as the UK's leading TPMS skills event.

Expanded retailer and sponsor engagement

The 2025 competition featured the largest pool of finalists and sponsors to date. Sixteen technicians reached the live final, representing both major retail networks and independent garages. Premium sponsors included Auto3iii, Automechanika Birmingham, Autotech Training, DeWalt Automotive, Pro-Align, The AA and the host venue.

Honouring technical excellence across categories

Three winners were recognised in separate categories:■ Kai Llewellyn: Small Retailer and Overall Winner
■ Luke Mills: Large Retailer Category
■ Brajan Szalachta: Under-23 Category

A special award was introduced in honour of the late Adam Livett, recognising technician Liam Healy for embodying Adam's approach to professionalism and enthusiasm.

Raising standards and road safety awareness

Autogem Managing Director Prashant Chopra highlighted the dual aims of the competition: to close knowledge gaps and to strengthen the industry's training pipeline. “Every finalist now leaves with a greater skillset, and our partnerships across the sector are stronger as a result," he said.

Sector leaders, including NTDA Chief Executive Ian Andrew and TyreSafe Trustee Mike Bourne, praised the competition for spotlighting technician capabilities and reinforcing TPMS's role in road safety. Bourne underlined the importance of driver education: "If that warning light comes on, it should never be ignored."
