Ikon Tyres is preparing to launch the Autograph Ultra 5, its first independently developed premium ultra-high-performance summer tyre. Series production is scheduled to begin in Vsevolozhsk, near St Petersburg, before an early 2027 introduction in Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan. A wider international rollout is expected to follow.
The Autograph Ultra 5 represents a step above earlier products carrying the Autograph name. Ikon is targeting modern sports cars and premium vehicles rather than the wider passenger replacement market.
The company describes the tyre as its first premium ultra-high-performance product. It is therefore important to Ikon’s attempt to establish an independent identity following the separation of its Russian operations from Nokian Tyres.
Tyre News previously reported that Ikon was restructuring its passenger tyre portfolio. That programme places Ikon-branded products at the premium end of a broader range covering several price tiers.
Ikon says the Autograph Ultra 5 was designed from scratch by its research and development centre. It was not adapted from a previous Nokian Tyres pattern.
Development has focused on wet grip, high-speed handling and structural strength. Available speed ratings will extend to Y, which permits operation at speeds of up to 300km/h under the applicable load conditions.
The company said the project marked its “first in-house development in this category”. Its engineering team is also developing an Autograph Ultra 5 SUV version for performance crossovers and sport utility vehicles.
Independent tyre testing and full label data have not yet been released. Those results will be important when assessing how the product compares with established premium UHP competitors.
Ikon plans to introduce the Autograph Ultra 5 in 54 sizes. The programme will concentrate on larger rim diameters used by premium cars and high-performance models.
A broad initial size range can help wholesalers and retailers cover more applications without waiting for several phases of expansion. It also signals that Ikon intends the product to become a core range rather than a limited-image line.
The scale reflects wider competition within the performance category. Tyre News has also covered Apollo Tyres’ expansion of the Vredestein Ultrac Pro to 102 sizes and the launch of the Petlas Prestige Sport for performance cars and SUVs.
Series production is scheduled to start at Ikon’s Vsevolozhsk plant. The first commercial launch will cover Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan in early 2027.
Further exports are expected after the regional introduction, although Ikon has not confirmed the next countries or distribution partners.
The launch initially has limited direct relevance to UK dealers because no British availability has been announced. However, it provides a useful indication of how the former Nokian Tyres operation is rebuilding its technology base and pursuing higher-value replacement segments.
For international distributors, the key questions will concern independent test performance, certification, pricing and supply arrangements. The breadth of any export programme will determine whether Autograph Ultra 5 becomes a regional product or a wider challenger in the premium UHP market.
