Essen Motor Show Unveils Mustang GT Campaign Car on Hankook UHP Tyres.

The 21st TUNE IT! SAFE! campaign vehicle has been revealed at the Essen Motor Show in Germany, with a Ford Mustang GT Fastback fitted with Hankook's ultra-high-performance Ventus S1 evo 3 tyres taking centre stage.

Unveiled on the preview day of Europe's leading tuning and accessories trade fair on 28th November 2025, the striking show car features authentic German police service vehicle livery and was displayed at Stand B11 in Hall 7. The TUNE IT! SAFE! initiative, which has been running since 2005, continues to demonstrate that creative vehicle modification can be undertaken whilst remaining fully compliant with legal requirements.

Premium tyre manufacturer Hankook serves as the campaign's main sponsor, alongside support from the German Federal Ministry of Transport, the Association of German Automobile Tuners (VDAT) and numerous other partners.

Performance meets safety

The campaign vehicle has been customised by Fiegeperformance, with the V8 engine producing 328 kW (440 hp). The Mustang rolls on 21-inch Barracuda Razzer rims, fitted with Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3 tyres in size 265/30 ZR 21 (96Y) at the front axle and 285/30 ZR 21 (100Y) at the rear.

The ultra-high-performance tyres have been engineered to deliver precision handling, shortened braking distances and enhanced wet weather stability. According to Hankook, the fitment improves steering precision, traction and directional stability at high speeds—crucial attributes for the powerful American muscle car.

The tyres feature a rigid carcass, high-grip tread compound and asymmetric profile design, ensuring accurate feedback at the front axle and confident power transmission at the rear, complementing the extensively modified chassis setup of the V8 Mustang.

"We are proud to have supported TUNE IT! SAFE! since its inception," said Roland Hehner, Director of Sales Central Germany and Head of Product & Tuning at Hankook Tyres Germany. "For us, safe tuning means uncompromising quality and genuine driving pleasure, while fully complying with the rules. With the Hankook Ventus S1 evo 3, we are showing on the campaign vehicle how maximum performance, efficiency and safety can be successfully combined—the very essence of the initiative."

Comprehensive modifications

Beyond the tyre fitment, the campaign vehicle features a comprehensive tuning package addressing both performance and aesthetics. A front splitter and rear spoiler have been added to optimise aerodynamic flow, whilst striking tailpipe trims enhance the rear-end appearance.

The braking system has been upgraded with two-piece brake discs at the front axle, complemented by an additional brake and wheel bearing cooling system designed to maintain stability during repeated heavy braking.

The Ford Mustang GT Fastback represents the continued commitment of Hankook and its partners to promoting responsible vehicle modification that prioritises safety without compromising on performance or visual impact.

Hankook’s product and brand momentum this year includes UK and European headlines such as category wins at the WhatTyre Awards and new OE supply on high-profile models, signals that can translate into forecourt pull-through for dealers.
