Citira Acquires G&S Tyres in Third UK Deal of 2026

Citira has acquired G&S Tyres, adding an East London retreading facility and expanding its UK commercial tyre network.

Citira has acquired family-owned G&S Tyres, extending its commercial tyre service operations into London and the South East of England. The deal adds an established retreading facility and approximately 45 employees to the Norvestor-backed group's growing UK business.

Announced on 2 November 2026, the acquisition is Citira's third UK deal this year, following its entry through off-highway tyre specialist Tyrefix Group and the subsequent acquisition of Redpath Tyres in Scotland.

G&S Tyres has served the UK commercial tyre market for more than 40 years. Operating from a site in East London, the family-run business provides commercial tyre services and retreading to customers across London and the South East.

The business will continue trading under the G&S Tyres name with its existing team. Gary, James and Billy Short will remain involved and become shareholders in Citira Group.

Oliver Johnson, Head of UK at Citira, said the acquisition represents another step towards developing a national commercial tyre service network.

"Following our acquisition of Redpath Tyres in Scotland, G&S is a further step in our ambition to build a national commercial tyre service network with the best people and businesses in the UK," Johnson said.

Gary Short, speaking on behalf of the family, welcomed the agreement and said Citira offered a platform for the next generation of the business, led by James and Billy, to continue its development.

Retreading adds to Citira's UK capabilities

The transaction gives Citira an established retreading operation in the London metropolitan area, alongside G&S Tyres' existing commercial fleet customer relationships.

Citira already operates a circular tyre management model across the Nordic countries and Poland, combining tyre servicing with retreading, rim refurbishment and fleet logistics.

The addition of G&S provides a UK retreading facility that complements this approach, although the company has not detailed how services or operations will be coordinated across its British businesses.

The acquisition also builds on two earlier UK transactions.

Citira entered the market through Tyrefix, a specialist in mobile and on-site tyre servicing for off-highway equipment. Its subsequent agreement to acquire Redpath Tyres added an established Scottish commercial and agricultural tyre service business, operating from 11 locations and employing approximately 90 people.

Together, the three businesses give Citira a broader geographic and operational presence across different areas of the UK tyre service market.

Building a wider UK network

The latest acquisition moves Citira further towards its stated ambition of developing a national commercial tyre service network.

The distinction between the businesses is significant. Tyrefix provides specialist off-highway servicing, Redpath brings an established Scottish commercial tyre network, and G&S adds London and South East coverage alongside retreading capability.

For commercial fleet customers, this creates the potential for a wider range of services across the group. How those capabilities will be linked between businesses remains to be established.

The transaction was confirmed by legal adviser RWK Goodman, which acted for the sellers. Barnes Roffe provided corporate finance advice to the Short family, while Citira was advised by White & Case and Deloitte.

Citira is backed by Nordic private equity investor Norvestor and operates across the UK, Nordic countries and Poland.
