Vaculug is using National Careers Week 2026 to spotlight the growing role of the circular economy in shaping Britain's industrial future — and to remind young people that rewarding, skilled careers are available right on their doorstep.
Europe's largest independent tyre remanufacturer, Vaculug has been supporting the regional and national jobs market for over 75 years. With its headquarters in Grantham, Lincolnshire, the company is using this year's National Careers Week to encourage students across the East Midlands and beyond to look beyond their immediate horizons and consider a career in sustainable manufacturing.
Following a landmark year that saw Vaculug celebrate its 75th anniversary (culminating in a reception at the Houses of Parliament) the company is renewing its commitment to investing in local talent. Its apprenticeship programme sits at the heart of that commitment, offering placements across mechanical engineering, technical production, business administration, marketing, and more.
These earn-while-you-learn roles allow young people from Grantham and the surrounding area to build industry-leading skills without having to leave the county, a practical, financially accessible route into a professional career.
STEM at the Heart of Sustainability
Vaculug's manufacturing process places STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) front and centre. Through remanufacturing tyres, the company saves up to 70 per cent of the raw materials required to produce new ones, making a tangible contribution to the UK's Net Zero goals and demonstrating that sustainable manufacturing is not just possible, but commercially viable.
"We want students to see that subjects like Mathematics and Chemistry aren't just abstract concepts, they are the tools we use to reduce carbon emissions and build a more resilient UK supply chain. Right here in Grantham, we are leading the charge to create Britain's future circular economy. National Careers Week is the perfect time to remind young people of the exciting and diverse career opportunities available to them locally." - Jorge Crespo, Managing Director of Vaculug
As part of National Careers Week, Vaculug will participate in a local careers fair, where the company will showcase its operational capabilities and speak directly with students about the opportunities available. This follows the company's involvement in National Apprenticeship Week, during which Vaculug highlighted the contributions of its own apprentices to both internal stakeholders and the wider community.
Vaculug is now accepting applications for its 2026 apprenticeship intake. Students, parents, and careers advisors are encouraged to visit www.vaculug.com/people to find out more.
