Titan International has introduced the Carlstar-branded Ultra Guard Steel, the company’s first steel-belted skid steer tyre, aimed at operators working in high-puncture, heavy-duty environments such as construction sites and demolition yards. Pre-orders are open now, with product availability expected from February 2026. The launch follows Titan’s integration of Carlstar and extends its off-highway range into steel-belted construction applications.
Titan positions Ultra Guard Steel for machines pushed to their limits, citing a tougher tread, larger lugs for load distribution, flexible sidewalls for shock absorption, and deeper tread for greater contact and grip. A reinforced rim guard is designed to reduce wheel damage and repair costs in debris-rich zones. Titan says the steel-belted construction delivers more than 150% greater puncture resistance than a traditional bias tyre.
“We listened to our customers and studied competitor offerings to engineer a tyre that raises the bar for durability and rider comfort,” said Travis Little, General Manager of Ag, Construction and Industrial products for the Carlstar and Carlisle brands.
Titan’s Carlstar portfolio has been building distribution in Europe since the acquisition of The Carlstar Group in 2024, a move intended to create a one-stop off-highway supplier. Earlier this year, Tyre News reported Titan broadening Goodyear brand licensing into light construction categories, reinforcing channel reach alongside Carlstar in compact equipment segments. That development provides useful context for the Ultra Guard Steel’s market entry.
In April, Goodyear Farm Tires (manufactured under Titan licence) expanded warehousing at Titan France’s Flers site to improve EU delivery efficiency and support Carlstar roll-out, signalling capacity to supply compact construction and industrial tyres closer to market. This expansion underpins the availability ramp for new Carlstar SKUs such as Ultra Guard Steel.
Ultra Guard Steel is Carlstar-branded and listed as “coming soon” on Carlstar’s product pages, with Titan confirming pre-orders now and first shipments targeted for February 2026. Fleet and plant-hire operators working around scrap metal, rebar and sharp demolition debris are the primary audience, where puncture resistance and rim protection translate directly into lower downtime and service spend.
Given the higher casing stiffness of steel-belted skid steer tyres, tyre removal, fitting and inflation must be handled by competent staff using appropriate restraints and PPE. The UK Health and Safety Executive (HSE) provides relevant guidance on safe procedures for tyre removal, replacement and inflation in workshop settings.
