Prometeon Tyre Group’s latest sustainability report underlines how quickly the commercial, agricultural and OTR specialist is decarbonising its global operations. The company has already passed its original 2030 emission target and is now formally working towards climate-neutral production by 2040, in line with the Paris 1.5 °C pathway.
▪ 35.8 % cut in greenhouse-gas emissions against the 2016 baseline
▪ 13.6 % drop in electricity use over the same period
▪ Target: another 23 % energy reduction by 2025, rising to 31 % by 2030
Renewables now supply 47.8 % of Prometeon’s global power demand, with the Brazilian sites already running on 100 % clean electricity. The Gravataí plant is carbon-neutral for Scope 1 and 2 emissions.
The group sources 33 % of its raw materials from bio-based feedstocks and adds 1.89 % recycled content—a share it wants to push to 40 % by 2030 and to full circularity by 2050. Waste-recovery rates reached 98.2 % in 2024, comfortably ahead of the 97 % goal set for 2030.
Seventeen supplier audits last year covered 21 % of raw-material spend, with full coverage due within five years. Every employee is now on an incentive scheme that links bonuses to ESG targets.
Morningstar Sustainalytics rated the company at 12.5 (“Low Risk”), placing it 10th in the wider automotive universe and 5th in the tyre sub-sector.
Commenting on the report, Nicolas Marchi, Chief of Internal Audit, Compliance, Sustainability & Institutional Relations, said:
“In the tyre industry, particularly within the commercial, agricultural, and OTR segments, sustainability has become a strategic priority. Integrating ESG criteria into our operating model – encompassing supplier selection, employee well-being and financial structuring – enables us to generate value in the environmental, social and economic contexts. This commitment not only strengthens our leadership but also propels us decisively towards our Net-Zero 2040 goal, while driving innovation in materials, processes and product performance. Sustainability has also become a key factor in attracting talented young individuals, who are increasingly attuned to these issues.”
The 2024 Sustainability Report was compiled following the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) guidelines, which promote transparency and impact-led sustainability reporting.
