Chinese tyre manufacturer Prinx Chengshan has officially entered the European off-the-road (OTR) segment, unveiling its first OTR product for the region at Autopromotec 2025 in Bologna. The launch marks a significant step for the company as it targets construction and mining sectors across Europe.
The new Prinx ELD 12, initially released in size 29.5R25, has been developed for heavy-duty applications in construction and mining. Engineered to meet European performance and sustainability expectations, the tyre is the first in a new line designed to support high-load operations in harsh environments.
The ELD 12 was developed at Prinx’s recently opened production facility in Rongcheng, Shandong. The factory, backed by a €137 million investment, is built to produce 84,000 high-performance radial tyres and 10,000 giant engineering radial tyres annually.
The ELD 12 launch is the first phase of Prinx Chengshan’s longer-term strategy to gain a foothold in Europe’s specialised OTR market. The company plans to distribute the tyre through selected partnerships with European distributors, focusing on technical support and long-term service reliability.
“Our goal is to establish long-term partnerships with the right tyre companies who align with our values and growth vision,” said Adrian Costache, European Sales Director.
Future expansion will include the production of giant OTR tyres in sizes 49", 57", and 63", aimed at high-demand sectors including mining, construction, and material handling.
Prinx Chengshan’s move into the European OTR market reflects a broader trend of global tyre manufacturers investing in localised solutions for niche industrial sectors. With European demand for heavy-duty tyres driven by infrastructure and resource projects, OTR tyre suppliers are expected to ramp up production tailored to EU standards on durability, safety, and environmental compliance. This expansion also highlights China's growing role in advanced radial tyre manufacturing.
