Hankook Secures Leading Spot in All-Season EV Tyre Comparison
The Hankook iON FlexClimate has been awarded a strong purchase recommendation and first place overall in Auto Bild’s latest electric vehicle (EV) all-season tyre test, published 16 April 2025. Evaluated in size 245/45 R19, the tyre achieved best-in-class results across critical performance metrics, confirming its standing as a top choice for EV drivers.
Auto Bild testers examined ten key performance areas, including wet and dry braking, handling, aquaplaning resistance, and rolling resistance. Hankook’s EV-specific all-season tyre delivered particularly strong results in wet conditions—an area the publication described as especially safety-relevant.
In all four subcategories related to wet performance—braking, handling, straight aquaplaning, and cornering aquaplaning—the iON FlexClimate earned the highest ratings, outperforming two rival products.
The Hankook tyre also excelled in dry conditions, with testers praising its “agile steering behaviour” and “good balance”. It recorded the shortest braking distance on dry tarmac and posted a competitive rolling resistance score, helping support EV range without compromising on road performance.
Overall, the iON FlexClimate received an aggregate score of 1.4 and was described by the testers as a “balanced performer” that delivers high safety and enjoyment behind the wheel.
This latest recognition adds to a string of recent accolades for Hankook’s EV tyre range. In March 2025, the Hankook iON evo was named the overall winner in Auto Bild’s EV summer tyre test (size 215/55 R18), where it outperformed eight competitors in a similar comparative review.
Hankook’s success highlights how premium manufacturers are refining tyre performance to meet the specific torque, weight, and efficiency demands of electric vehicles. As EV adoption increases, all-season options like the iON FlexClimate are becoming crucial for year-round usability without sacrificing control or range.
