DriverReviews has announced its 2025 Winter Customer Choice Awards, using verified owner feedback to identify the highest-rated winter tyres across Europe. Continental’s WinterContact TS 870 tops the car category, while Michelin’s Alpin 7 leads the SUV list. The results draw on hundreds of thousands of reviews and more than a billion kilometres of real-world driving, offering trade and retail buyers a clear view of products drivers trust.
DriverReviews says it now hosts more than 493,000 verified tyre reviews covering 1.16 billion kilometres of driving, positioning the platform as a substantial reference point for winter fitment decisions. The 2025 awards present three tiers per class — Winner, Highly Recommended and Commended — based solely on user ratings rather than laboratory tests.
In passenger car, Continental’s WinterContact TS 870 is the overall Winner, ahead of Michelin’s Alpin 7 (Highly Recommended) and Goodyear’s UltraGrip Performance 3 (Commended). For SUVs, Michelin’s Alpin 7 takes top spot, followed by Continental’s WinterContact TS 870 P and Hankook’s Winter i*cept evo3 X.
“Choosing tyres can feel overwhelming,” said Adam Butcher, Director of Growth at DriverReviews. “These awards put verified driver experiences front and centre, offering clear guidance on the tyres European motorists rate most highly.” He added that the outcomes reflect everyday journeys as well as longer trips, giving buyers confidence in winter choices.
For retailers and wholesalers, third-party validation can underpin seasonal sales conversations and upsell opportunities. Recent Tyre News analysis has highlighted how tyre buying is shifting online, increasing the role of transparent, trusted reviews in product discovery and conversion. This aligns with the sector’s pivot to digital-first marketing.
Independent testing and seasonal safety campaigns continue to shape winter demand. Tyre News recently covered Kumho’s strong showing in Auto Bild’s winter evaluations, reinforcing how comparative performance stories influence shopper confidence. Separately, Bridgestone’s autumn safety push reiterates checks and timely replacements ahead of colder weather, guidance retailers can echo alongside review-led recommendations.
With colder conditions approaching, official guidance in the Highway Code advises extra caution in snow and ice and preparation before travel, a useful reference point for customer communications when discussing seasonal tyres and safe stopping distances.
DriverReviews says it will publish its All-Season Customer Choice Awards in January and the Summer Awards in March, extending the same verified-driver methodology to year-round and warm-weather fitments. That cadence gives retailers and fleets timely benchmarks ahead of seasonal demand.
