Cosmo Kurrent: New Touring Tyre Aims at EV Compatibility and Long Life

EV-Ready Touring Tyre with Premium Appeal

Cosmo Tires has launched the Kurrent, a new premium touring tyre designed for both internal combustion and electric vehicles (EVs). Developed over two years, the Kurrent features a 70,000-mile limited warranty (or 40,000 miles for EV applications) and aims to offer a balance of aesthetics, comfort, and performance.

The Kurrent enters the market with 22 initial sizes suitable for sport compacts, sedans, and crossovers, with 22 more sizes scheduled for release. Cosmo positions the tyre as a competitively priced premium option within its segment.

Key Technical Features

The Kurrent includes several standout features aimed at modern vehicle users:

Quiet Kat Technology

Designed to reduce road noise through geometric isolation, enhancing ride comfort and cabin quietness.

Directed Super Silica (DSS) Compound

A proprietary tread compound formulated for extended tread life and enhanced traction in both wet and dry conditions.

Treadwear Indicator

An at-a-glance centre rib design allows users to easily check tyre wear, removing the need for traditional tread depth tools.

Asymmetric Tread and Reinforced Bead

The asymmetric design offers responsive handling, while an extra load rating provides additional strength and steering feedback.

Bold Sidewall Styling

The sidewall incorporates motion-inspired visual elements, reflecting a design-led approach without compromising functionality.

Designed for the Next Generation of Drivers

With its combination of design and functionality, Cosmo aims to attract style-conscious consumers and performance-focused drivers alike. The Kurrent follows earlier designs like the MuchoMacho and GripIt XT, continuing Cosmo’s focus on visual appeal as part of its product identity.

Cosmo’s offering is positioned as a versatile solution for both EV and traditional platforms, with differentiated mileage expectations to reflect the higher torque wear profiles typical of electric vehicles.

The Cosmo Kurrent exemplifies the shift toward EV-ready tyre designs that combine endurance, aesthetics, and enhanced ride comfort. Its inclusion of a real-time treadwear indicator points to a broader trend in tyre technology aimed at improving driver awareness and safety. As EV adoption grows, tyres with tailored load ratings, compound technologies, and acoustic performance will increasingly define the premium touring segment.
