Continental has received the Kalmar Sustainability Award 2025 at Kalmar’s Supplier Day held in May in Szczecin, Poland. The award recognises performance on Kalmar’s independently assessed sustainability scorecard, covering supplier engagement, data disclosure, hazardous substances compliance and codes of conduct. Continental’s result reflects long-term collaboration with Kalmar in port logistics tyres and digital tyre management.
Kalmar’s supplier sustainability programme focuses on decarbonisation, transparency in hazardous substances and responsible minerals, requiring continuous data from suppliers to improve emissions reporting and risk management. Continental topped Kalmar’s scorecard in 2025, underscoring progress in responsible sourcing and supply chain disclosure.
“We are honored to receive this award from Kalmar, a valued customer with whom we have enjoyed a strong partnership for more than 15 years… This award is a testament to our shared values: a strong commitment to sustainability and lifecycle responsibility as demonstrated in our yearly sustainability report.” - Christian Berner, Global Key Account Manager for Port Operations, Continental.
Kalmar’s sustainability scorecard evaluates:
As Kalmar’s standard premium supplier for V.ply port logistics tyres, Continental equips reach stackers, empty container handlers, heavy-duty forklifts, straddle carriers and terminal tractors. The range includes long-lasting designs such as TerminalMaster V.ply, developed for reliability and reduced material waste over the product lifecycle, and radial solutions for container-handling vehicles. Digital tools like ContiConnect help fleets avoid under-inflation, extend tyre life and improve fuel efficiency.
Earlier in 2025, Continental was named Tire Manufacturer of the Year at the Tire Technology International Awards, and its Lousado plant was recognised for Environmental Achievement of the Year – Manufacturing. These honours reflect ongoing investments in low-carbon production and material transparency.
