Continental has secured a platinum sustainability rating from EcoVadis, marking its place among the top 1% of companies evaluated globally. The tyre manufacturer scored 84 out of 100 in the 2025 assessment, reflecting marked progress in sustainability across multiple categories, including labour rights, ethics, and procurement practices.
The platinum rating from EcoVadis represents the highest distinction awarded by the global sustainability assessment platform. Continental improved significantly on its 2024 score, rising from 74 to 84 points. This improvement reflects targeted efforts to embed sustainability across its operations — from responsible sourcing to end-of-life tyre recycling initiatives.
Key evaluation areas included:
▪ Environmental performance
▪ Labour and human rights
▪ Ethics
▪ Sustainable procurement
Continental scored particularly high in labour and human rights as well as procurement, underlining a commitment to ethical supply chain management and employee welfare standards.
EcoVadis, established in 2007, provides third-party sustainability assessments for over 150,000 companies worldwide. The organisation benchmarks environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance and ranks businesses accordingly, awarding medals from bronze to platinum based on their scores.
The rating platform is widely used by procurement teams to evaluate partners and ensure transparent, responsible supply chains. Continental’s top-tier rating increases its visibility as a preferred supplier to sustainability-conscious OEMs and partners.
Jorge Almeida, Head of Sustainability at Continental Tires, said the recognition underscores the company's global commitment to sustainable practices:
“This year's platinum rating reflects our multifaceted commitment to sustainability. It shows that sustainability is embedded in all our business processes across the globe and throughout the entire value chain.”
As sustainability becomes a key criterion for procurement and investment decisions, manufacturers that score highly in independent audits are well positioned to lead in regulatory compliance, OEM partnerships, and customer trust. The result also reflects the increasing importance of sustainable procurement and ethical labour practices in tyre sector innovation strategies.
