Balkrishna Industries Ltd (BKT) has been awarded the prestigious Sword of Honour 2025 by the British Safety Council, with the company's flagship Bhuj plant in India receiving recognition for its exceptional health and safety standards.
The award ceremony took place at the historic Drapers' Hall in London, where BKT was named amongst just 70 successful applicants globally to achieve the Sword of Honour. The accolade is reserved for organisations that have demonstrated excellence in managing health and safety risks in the workplace.
To qualify for the award, BKT achieved a Five Star Audit Report—the highest possible rating in the British Safety Council's management audit scheme. This assessment evaluated the company's comprehensive approach to workplace safety at its Bhuj facility, which serves as one of BKT's primary manufacturing sites.
As recognition of this achievement, BKT received a specially commissioned hand-crafted stainless-steel ceremonial sword, created exclusively for the 2025 award winners.
Peter McGettrick, Chairman of the British Safety Council, praised the achievement: "On behalf of the Board of Trustees and all staff of the British Safety Council, I would like to congratulate BKT on achieving the highest standards within its health and safety management. Achieving recognition of this kind involves full dedication and utmost professionalism. We are proud to support you in your achievements and are delighted that we can contribute to your ongoing success."
Mike Robinson, Chief Executive of the British Safety Council, added his congratulations, paying tribute to BKT's commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace for its employees.
The award underscores BKT's ongoing dedication to workplace safety across its operations. Anil Kumar Sharma, Corporate Head of Quality Assurance and Sustainability at BKT, attributed the success to the company's workforce: "The recognition of the British Safety Council rewards the great perseverance of BKT's employees in putting in place a high-level and high-quality workplace for all, and I personally wish to congratulate all of them to promote the company's highest standard in every operation."
The Sword of Honour represents a significant milestone for BKT as the off-highway tyre specialist continues to expand its global manufacturing footprint whilst maintaining rigorous safety standards across its facilities.
