Solideal On-Site Service has completed an on-site tyre support project for operations at RWE’s Gwynt y Môr offshore wind farm in North Wales.

The work related to logistics vehicles used to move supplies and equipment across a metal linkspan bridge and pontoon system serving the 576MW site, which is located around 13km offshore. According to the companies, the operating environment and tidal conditions had created challenges for the existing set-up.

Solideal On-Site Service visited the site to assess the application and recommended replacement pneumatic tyres for Bradshaw material trucks and Viking trailers used in the operation. The company then carried out the fitment on site.

The Bradshaw material trucks wear SOLIDEAL HAULERS sized 5.00-8, and the trailer rides on SOLIDEAL AIR 570s sized 15x4½-8.

The Bradshaw trucks were fitted with SOLIDEAL HAULER tyres in size 5.00-8, while the trailers were fitted with SOLIDEAL AIR 570 tyres in size 15x4½-8. Solideal said the specified tyres were selected for durability and suitability in the operating conditions.

RWE Special Projects Manager Gareth Brandrick said the company had been looking to improve safety and efficiency in its logistics activity and sought specialist tyre advice to support that process.

The project also included ongoing support and tyre checks following the initial fitment.
