Pirelli reintroduces the P Zero in its original form for the 40th anniversary of the Lancia Delta S4 Stradale, offering modern performance in a classic tread design.
Pirelli has reintroduced the first-generation P Zero tyre as part of its Collezione range, marking four decades since its original launch. The re-edition, produced in size 205/55 R16, is exclusively designed for the Lancia Delta S4 Stradale, itself celebrating its 40th anniversary with a limited release of 40 units.
The reissued P Zero maintains the visual characteristics of the original 1980s design, tailored to match the styling of period vehicles. However, beneath the vintage tread pattern lies updated materials and manufacturing processes to meet modern safety and performance standards.
Part of the Pirelli Collezione line, the tyre is designed for vehicles produced between 1930 and 2000. This specific P Zero model is the only Collezione fitment in the 205/55 R16 size, staying true to the original specification while improving handling and grip with today's technology.
Pirelli has preserved the distinctive single-tread layout that characterised the original P Zero. The inner shoulder is designed for wet grip with rain-style grooves, the outer shoulder draws from slick racing tyres for dry traction, and the central tread features intermediate patterns to offer a balanced driving response.
This approach merges period aesthetics with hybrid performance zones, making the tyre suitable for both spirited and safe use on modern roads.
The reintroduction of legacy tyre models with updated construction reflects a growing trend among tyre manufacturers to support the heritage vehicle market.
