Service station air machines can be frustrating — often unreliable, inaccurate, or inconvenient. So when TowerTop launched its latest 12V tyre inflator with digital controls and a claimed 55-second inflation time, we put it to the test. After several weeks of use across a range of vehicles, here’s how it performed.
The standout feature of the TowerTop RCP-B61A inflator is its speed. In testing, it inflated a 185/65 R15 tyre from 25 to 35 PSI in just 55 seconds, matching the manufacturer’s claim. When inflating from flat to 35 PSI, it completed the job in around 2 minutes 45 seconds.
A high-speed turbocharged pure copper motor and advanced cooling system allow up to 30 minutes of continuous operation — enough to inflate 8–10 tyres in a single session.
Even at high pressures (up to 100 PSI), the working current stays below 9A, protecting fuses and ensuring safe use through a standard 12V socket.
The large LCD backlit display makes it easy to view both real-time and target pressures. During our test, the unit’s auto shut-off function worked accurately, consistently stopping inflation within a ±1 PSI margin of the preset value.
Setting the target PSI is straightforward. Once connected, the inflator does the rest — ensuring consistent, accurate inflation without risk of overfilling.
With a total cable and hose length of over 12 feet (10.1ft power cord + 1.9ft air hose), the TowerTop inflator reached all four tyres of standard-size vehicles with room to spare. A built-in LED light offers three lighting modes, supporting roadside use in poor visibility or darkness.
The inflator also includes shock-absorbing feet to reduce vibration, and operates at relatively low noise levels compared to similar models we’ve tested.
