The National Tyre Distributors Association presented the 12th Tyre Industry Awards during its 96th Annual Dinner on 9 October at StadiumMK, Milton Keynes. Maritime Cargo Services sponsored the dinner, while Sailun Tyres completed ten consecutive years as headline sponsor

A night of industry recognition

NTDA chairman’s honours went to Norman Kerr, managing director of Kerr’s Tyres, who also received honorary lifetime membership. The chief executive’s Round and Black Award recognised Eden Tyres for its support in producing a new suite of promotional videos made available to NTDA members, CEO Ian Andrew noted. Prometeon-sponsored apprentice honours went to HiQ Tyres & Autocare’s Louis Townrow, selected from nine finalists described as “beacons of hope” for the trade.

Retail and wholesale accolades

GT Tyres (Forres) was named Small Tyre Retailer of the Year and later collected Overall Tyre Retailer of the Year. Merityre Specialists won the Medium and Large Tyre Retailer of the Year title. In a new public vote, Stone Tyres took Tyre Retailer of the Year, reflecting stronger consumer engagement with the awards process.

Excellence in service and people

Barrie Turner of Merityre Specialists earned Tyre Centre Manager of the Year. Jon Billings of Universal Tyre Company won REACT Commercial Tyre Technician of the Year, while the company also took Commercial Tyre Service Provider of the Year. Josh Sharp of HiQ Tyres & Autocare was named Mobile Tyre Technician of the Year, recognising on-the-road service quality and safety.

Supply chain and manufacturing winners

Autogem Invicta collected Aftermarket Supplier of the Year and the Staff Training and Development Initiative of the Year, underlining investment in tools and skills. Continental took Industry Marketing Campaign of the Year. Kirkby Tyres won Tyre Wholesaler of the Year, while Prometeon was named Tyre Manufacturer of the Year. Hankook received Tyre Industry Environmental and Sustainable Solution of the Year, reflecting growing focus on lower-impact products and operations.

Sponsors with staying power

Maritime Cargo Services continued its long-term support as dinner sponsor, and Sailun Tyres marked a full decade as headline sponsor of the awards. The event capped a busy NTDA calendar that has included leadership changes and membership growth. Tyre News previously covered the finalists announcement and the association’s recent initiatives and leadership updates.

The awards spotlight technical standards, training and customer service across the trade, from apprentices to multi-site retailers. They also arrive amid increased safety scrutiny: recent NTDA checks reported almost four in ten UK vehicles running on unsafe tyres, underscoring the sector’s public-safety role and the importance of technician competence. Employers can reference approved apprenticeship standards for tyre roles to strengthen pipelines.
