MRF has been named India’s most valuable and strongest tyre brand in the Brand Finance India 100 2026 report. The Chennai-based manufacturer achieved an estimated brand value of US$863.1 million and a Brand Strength Index score of 87.7. The result adds to evidence of Indian tyre manufacturers gaining influence in global markets.

MRF secures AAA brand strength rating

MRF received Brand Finance’s AAA rating after scoring 87.7 out of 100 for brand strength. The valuation consultancy considers factors including familiarity, reputation, customer preference and commercial performance.

Its estimated tyre brand value of US$863.1 million represents approximately ₹83.04 billion. MRF also features among India’s 50 most valuable brands across all industries.

Brand Finance’s wider India 100 ranking valued the country’s 100 leading brands at a combined US$252.8 billion. That represented a seven per cent annual increase.

K. M. Mammen, chairman and managing director of MRF, dedicated the recognition to the company’s customers.

“This recognition belongs to every Indian who has trusted MRF,” Mammen said.

He described the ranking as both an honour and a responsibility. He added that the company would maintain its focus on safety, innovation and product development.

Global tyre rankings show stronger Asian competition

MRF’s Indian ranking follows its inclusion among the world’s three strongest tyre brands. Its score places the manufacturer alongside established international groups operating across passenger, commercial and specialist markets.

Brand Finance’s 2026 global tyre study named Michelin as the world’s strongest tyre brand. Michelin achieved a Brand Strength Index score of 93.2 and an AAA+ rating. It also remained the world’s most valuable tyre brand, with a value of US$10.3 billion.

The global ranking also shows growing competition from Asia. Giti and Sailun recorded some of the largest brand-value increases, while Apollo Tyres achieved the biggest improvement in brand strength among the top 25.

The results build on MRF’s position in the 2025 ranking. Brand Finance previously valued the company’s brand at US$699 million and ranked it third globally for tyre brand strength.

Why the result matters to the tyre trade

Brand value does not measure tyre production, revenue or technical performance directly. However, it indicates how customers and other stakeholders view a manufacturer.

That distinction matters as Indian tyre producers expand beyond their domestic market. Greater brand recognition can support export sales, distributor relationships and replacement-market positioning.

Tyre News previously reported that MRF, Apollo Tyres, JK Tyre and CEAT had entered the global top 20 manufacturers based on 2024 tyre sales. MRF was the highest-ranked Indian company in that comparison.

The manufacturer is also developing its UK distribution presence. In February 2026, Fleetline Tyres became MRF’s main dealer in the West Midlands, working with GB Tyres across commercial and specialist applications.

India’s wider export performance provides further context. The country supplies tyres to more than 170 markets, with Germany, Italy and France among its important destinations.

In practice, MRF’s rating reflects more than domestic consumer recognition. It signals stronger international credibility as Indian manufacturers compete for distributors, original equipment opportunities and replacement demand.
